[META] Nanog list messages/digests being blocked due to websites being discussed being on blocklists
by nanog＠fleish.org 24 Sep '26

24 Sep '26

Hi all, I recently found 2 recent nanog digest emails in my junk folder due to 2 websites being discussed in this thread about BGP tools: https://lists.nanog.org/archives/list/nanog@lists.nanog.org/thread/3IBZTYUU… The first is bgpmap <dot> net, which is flagged by URIBL (https://admin.uribl.com/?section=lookup;) The second is ihr <dot> live, which is flagged by Spamhaus (https://check.spamhaus.org/) I've submitted the first for review to URIBL. For the second one, Spamhaus requests the domain owner submit the request after confirming the domain is abiding by certain criteria. I can email the admin email listed on the contact page for IHR, but if anyone here is affiliated with or knows the owners please take a look or notify the appropriate contact. Thanks, Todd

Reminder: Root KSK Rollover on 11 October 2026 – Check Your Trust Anchors
by Andres Pavez 22 Sep '26

22 Sep '26

Hi everyone, The next Root Zone Key Signing Key (KSK) rollover is scheduled for 11 October 2026. Operators of DNSSEC-validating resolvers should verify that KSK-2024 (Key Tag 38696) is present in their trust anchor configuration before the rollover. Information and resources, including technical guidance, FAQs, and the rollover timeline, are available on the 2026 Root KSK Rollover page: https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/ksk-rollover-en We encourage you to share questions, observations, or experiences before, during, and following the rollover on the KSK Rollover mailing list: https://lists.icann.org/postorius/lists/ksk-rollover.icann.org Thank you for your continued participation and support in helping ensure a smooth rollover. Best regards, -- Andres Pavez Cryptographic Key Manager

Abuse contact at DTAG
by admin＠nitter.click 19 Sep '26

19 Sep '26

Hi, Does anyone have an abuse contact at Deutsche Telekom AS3320? I have sent an email to their registered abuse contact abuse(a)telekom.de and received an automatic bounce. Then I found the Abuse page on their website, and next to this email address, a phone number was listed. So I called the phone number, and an automatic voice message told me to say "Ja" if I had a malware warning or stay on the line for a password reset, and in both cases it asked for my customer number and last digits of my IBAN, so that is only for customers.

Spamhaus vs. Cloudflare
by Seth Mattinen 18 Sep '26

18 Sep '26

Cloudflare has IP ranges all the way up on the Spamhaus DROP list. Cloudflare says they cannot control this. 172.70.206.0/23 (Spamhaus SBL687772) 512 addresses 172.70.214.0/23 (Spamhaus SBL687314) 512 addresses Is Cloudflare in a "might makes right" position, or should someone be working to resolve the issues causing the SBL? ~Seth

Eero devices expose LAN to SP during reboot
by Brandon Martin 18 Sep '26

18 Sep '26

I have a customer who's Eero seems to be exposing either their entire LAN L2 or at least several Eero MACs to the SP side consistently upon every reboot, and given the lack of configurability that the Eero presents, I'm at a loss to figure out how to make it not do that. Some sources suggest this is "expected behavior" which seems baffling. I can't imagine many SPs take kindly to having their access network flooded with dozens of MACs all asking for addressing via DHCP on a single access port. Is this really "expected behavior" from a customer edge router, these days? If so, what's the protocol people have adopted to handle it? The only thing I can think of is very short MAC aging at L2 and then blindly handing any device that shows up on the same access port the same addresses regardless of what L2 address it purports to have. Of course that doesn't fix the fact that any device on the customer's network that successfully completed the DHCP exchange while the true border Eero was "getting ready" now has unusable addressing. Turning DHCP lease times down low enough to combat this without the customer noticing is pretty much a non-starter. So what gives? -- Brandon Martin

Charging for IPs
by Mike Hammett 18 Sep '26

18 Sep '26

Has anyone else experienced an upstream provider that wants to charge you for the IPs you need to establish BGP sessions? I understand charging for large blocks, but I literally just got a quote for two /31s. I have an existing contract elsewhere with them, and they gave me 3x /29s gratis (for three different ASNs, sets of BGP sessions, ec.). Now they're charging for each IP. I thought charging for BGP sessions was ridiculous, but now for individual IPs to use those BGP sessions... ----- Mike Hammett FD-IX https://fd-ix.com/ DNA Communications https://www.dnacom.com/

ASN "Hijacked"
by Matt Brennan 16 Sep '26

16 Sep '26

Hi Folks, This is a new one for me. One of my AS numbers (AS27421) appears to be being used by someone in Brazil. We haven't seen any actual effects of the hijack -- that is, we don't appear to be losing any traffic. The only reason we noticed is because it's being reported on HE's BGP monitoring site. I've reached out to the abuse contact for the AS's the hijacker is peering with (AS1000, AS271253 - same abuse contact for both) several times and gotten no response. Though, looking at which prefixes AS271253 is originating, it doesn't appear this AS cares much about proper behavior. If anyone has any advice on next steps, it would be appreciated. Thanks, Matt
