So have *.app.linktechs.net that I have been trying to get to work, we have DNSSEC on this, and its failing, but cannot for the life of me understand why. I think it may have something to do with proving it exists as a wildcard, but any DNSSEC experts want to take a stab at it ? Dennis Burgess

Incorrect Reverse DNS in Verizon Fios NYC core router traceroute

Hi, I got Fios installed today in my NYC apartment, as I just moved back from Seattle after a 4-month stay in Connecticut. While it doesn't affect the normal operation of the service, it might give the impression packets are being routed via Pittsburgh to someone less savvy. If someone works at the Verizon Fios/ILEC network engineering or sysadmin team could the 100.41.196.252 reverse DNS entry to say "G0-3-4-4.NYCMNY-LCR-21.verizon-gni.net" please get updated? Thanks! Wall Street Journal out with an 'exclusive' article. This is apparently different than the other *-Typhoon groups (or whatever your favorite threat intelligence provider calls then). I don't know why the *-Typhoon groups would limit their intrusions to only U.S. ISPs. Broadband ISPs in other countries may have similar issues. China-Linked Hackers Breach U.S. Internet Providers in New ‘Salt Typhoon’ Cyberattack https://www.wsj.com/politics/national-security/china-cyberattack-internet-p… Hackers linked to the Chinese government have broken into a handful of U.S. internet-service providers in recent months in pursuit of sensitive information, according to people familiar with the matter. The hacking campaign, called Salt Typhoon by investigators, hasn’t previously been publicly disclosed and is the latest in a series of incursions that U.S. investigators have linked to China in recent years. The intrusion is a sign of the stealthy success Beijing’s massive digital army of cyberspies has had breaking into valuable computer networks in the U.S. and around the globe. In Salt Typhoon, the actors linked to China burrowed into America’s broadband networks. In this type of intrusion, bad actors aim to establish a foothold within the infrastructure of cable and broadband providers that would allow them to access data stored by telecommunications companies or launch a damaging cyberattack.

i know this is geeky, and not telling anyone else how thry should run their network. but i gotta try. :) so i have this nice (i.e. small and simple) ftdi usb-c to rj45m blue router craft/console cable. i also have a db9f to rj45m cable, also robin's egg blue. i i also have an old and clunky keyspan to usb-a; old, clunky, usb-a. i want the equivalent usb-c ftdi (mac compat) to db9f *server* serial console cable. 1-2m. integrated, slick, and sexy. magenta preferred, of course :) know any nice ones? randy

Greeting, One of the DDoS mitigation providers we work with creates proxy route objects for its customers’ prefixes. These route objects specify a common origin ASN rather than the actual origin ASN that would be seen in routing tables. Their rationale is to bind the prefixes to a single ASN, allowing the entire set of customer routes to be announced via an as-set. Is this a common approach? Question about the use of NO_EXPORT in BGP route announcements

For some IETF work in progress related to Source Address Validation (SAV), it is useful to know the purposes for which NO_EXPORT may be attached to routes announced in BGP, especially towards transit providers? I know it makes sense for an AS to announce an aggregate less-specific prefix to transit providers and peers without NO_EXPORT while announcing some more-specific prefixes (subsumed under the aggregate) with NO_EXPORT towards customer ASes. But are there good reasons when an AS might announce a prefix (route) to a transit provider with NO_EXPORT attached? The IP address space in consideration here is meant to have global reachability.
