Yea, 0.15-30EUR is definitely higher than the US average, much higher than what we pay. Out here, colo spaces tend to charge ~1.5-2x the utility rate in the quote. Mainly to factor in cooling, depending on their PUE. Based on cost of power in the EU, the monthly seems fine, but the install cost seems high. It seems like that facility doesn't have the power available, or doesn't have 3 phase and wants you to foot the cost. Route optimization using GPUs?

So back in the.. hell I don't know like... early 2010s there was a push for 'route optimization' from products like RouteScience and the Avaya CNA and more recently whatever Noction is doing. The big pain point for this technology at the time was that it could only optimize the top N egress routes due to how many probes it could send out and how many results it could process. It seems like now with a modest GPU in a router you could pretty easily 'optimize' [to the extent that you believe this technology worked] pretty much the whole routing table. We used these tools extensively back then and they actually worked pretty well in most cases. The biggest issue we ran into was people complaining that we pinged their IP addresses... which now a days seems like a great worst problem to have. Anyway is anyone doing any work on implementing GPUs into the BGP decision making process? Seems like a no brainer. -Drew

The deadline for OARC 44 abstract submission is extended to December 9, 2024, at 23:59 UTC. Thanks to those who already submitted, but we're still looking for more contributions. If you have something interesting to present and missed the chance last week, then this is your opportunity to still be part of the agenda for this event. This workshop will be a hybrid event. Date - 6-7 February 2025 Location - Atlanta Marriott Marquis - Atlanta, Georgia, USA Time zone - EST (UTC -5) Co-located with - NANOG 93 Deadline for Submissions - 2024-12-09 23:59 UTC All DNS-related subjects and discussion topics are welcome although we're particularly keen to hear about operational and security related experiences, best practices and practical advice; both for newcomers to the DNS arena and those who have been around for longer who want to learn more about new features and opportunities to improve resilience, security and privacy. If you have something interesting to share with the community that lies outside of the focus above, please don't be put off - if it's good, we'll be happy to include it.
