It was mentioned that this might be offtopic for this list, however I did want to get a feel for the attitudes of network operators, in light of the recent discussions regarding the Russian Operators.. and blocking routing et al.. At what point does it become an issue to the point where operators demand that others are responsible for the activiities coming from their networks? Wanted to start a thread on this issue.. It was mentioned that not routing operators who are puported to be owned/operated/supported by criminal activities, in conjunction with the Russian IP's, and the controversy on the Hurricane Electric actions.. I think this is on topic.. However, if others think it isn't I will not post to this subject here further... What is the issue here, that your DSL provider won't speak BGP with you no matter how many times you've asked, so you're complaining to NANOG about it because you don't have the ability or authority to change providers? Nothing shows clue factor quite as much as, well, practical demonstrations--and turning up sessions with other networks at an exchange point is a really good way to let folks see the level at which you're ready to play. Peering in Latin America

Hi There, I am looking for carriers who offer peering in Latin America (Specifically Costa Rica). So far the only carrier in Costa Rica who I have been able to find that does this is ADN (American Data Networks, www.data.cr) While they are already on my list for a quote, we need at least one other diverse connection, so I would appreciate if anyone else would be able to help me find other carriers who operate here? Here's who i've contacted so far: RACSA - Can't get past 1st level support (they don't know what BGP is) ICE - Tried contacting a person who's address I was previously given from NANOG to no avail Global Crossing - Said they contacted an engineer who would get back to me, mailed them 4 times since to no avail (no bounced emails either). Level 3 - Apparently don't operate in Latin America AT&T - Want us to have a minimum of 3 locations in the US to peer with first So far ADN are the only carrier who have actually been of any help. Quick Googling for "BGP Peering Latin America" and "BGP Peering Costa Rica" and several variations thereof is not yielding any fruitful results. Thanks and regards, Ken

So far all our upstreams (Level3, Cogent, Tata), with the exception of HE, provide this service. I don't even care about receiving their communities which describe where the prefix has been injected, since I can handle outbound traffic more or less myself. It's a nice-to-have feature though. It's the inbound that I cannot control without a little help from my upstreams, hence our desperate need to send BGP communities. Andy
