Hawaiian ILEC infrastructure and fire

Recently saw an aerial video where an entire neighborhood in Laihana had burned down *except* for the concrete block structure small ILEC CO. Pictures I have seen of other ILEC sites in Hawaii closely resemble some GTE sites in the Pacific Northwest (now Ziply), which makes sense with the history of GTE in Hawaii. Does anyone have some more detailed photos or examples of a telecom site that's survived while everything else around it is burned up? I'm looking to share this with some contacts in BC for rural telecom purposes and disaster preparedness discussions.

Destination Preference Attribute for BGP

Perhaps (probably) naively, it seems to me that DPA would have been a useful BGP attribute. Can anyone shed light on why this RFC never moved beyond draft status? BTW, the stratum-0 source you suggested is known to have been manipulated in the past (https://www.gps.gov/systems/gps/modernization/sa/) so you need to bet on that specific state actor not returning to old habits. OTOH, 4 of the 5 servers I suggested have their own atomic clock, and you can keep using GPS as well. If GPS goes bananas on timing, that source will just be disregarded (one of the features of the NTP architecture that has been pointed out over and over in this thread and you keep ignoring it). Optimum/Altice network contact

Cheap Rb GPSDO are well known there. Even a bottom barrel OCXO GPSDO would provide significant protection against determined GPS attacker. -Dan
