The report is split into sections: 0) General Status List the route table history for the last week, list any possibly bogus routes seen and give some status on ASes. 1) Gains by aggregating at the origin AS level This lists the "Top 30" players who if they decided to aggregate their announced classful prefixes at the origin AS level could make a significant difference in the reduction of the current size of the Internet routing table. This calculation does not take into account the inclusion of holes when forming an aggregate so it is possible even larger reduction should be possible. 2) Weekly Delta A summary of the last weeks changes in terms of withdrawn and added routes. Please note that this is only a snapshot but does give some indication of ASes participating in CIDR. Clearly, it is generally a good thing to see a large amont of withdrawls. 3) Interesting aggregates Interesting here means not an aggregate made as a set of classful routes. What do you mean? For folks with 7200/7500 series routers, one ethernet interface is priced at a very reasonable <turn head and cough> $5k list price. :-( The minute some company comes out with a rationally priced alternative to the 7500 series Ciscos, and assuming cisco doesn't immediately buy them, I think we'll all be the happier for it. I actually priced out the 24x7 smartnet prices for a couple of loaded 7206's and it was cheaper just to buy a spare router to gut for parts. Not only interesting, but dishonest. Forcing a company to spend money on false premise is tantamount to theft or conversion. That cisco gives them the opportunity for doing so is aiding an abetting. Particularly so when the upgrade cost adds to cisco's revenue. In other words, I sincerely hope that you are joking. Yes, I'm a "suit" and only a part-time operator/developer these days. Actually, dollar for dollar, the linux box will outperform the cisco. What the cisco gives you is much simpler access to the knobs that make the bells ring and whistles blow. operational: cisco atm edge switches/devices

Greetings, I am looking for anyone who might have dealt with this in the past. I currently engineer an ATM network (in first phase of deployment). The main switches deployed are from Fore systems. The agencies that are going to connect have specified that all edge devices must be from Cisco. In preliminary provisioning stages (at which I was not a party to) it was decided that the 3900 and 2820 tkr and eth switches would be deployed with ATM uplink modules. Unfortunately, in the lab, I have found that neither switch is capable of defining multiple PVCs over a single PVP. Likewise the intention is to create multiple elans over these pvcs to allow agencies with multiple sites to extend their internal LANs to the remote sites. I have yet to come up with a doable solution. The optimal solution would be contained within a single chassis (preferrably with swapable LAN modules). If by chance the same device would be capable of doing some L3 (BGP) routing, that would also be a plus factor. Has anyone done this? Which devices? Got any technical documentation I might review?

By no means is ELI *blaming* Ameritech or anyone else for the outage to the customer on Priori's network (yes, there was only one customer left on the network and they have subsequently been moved over to our AS). I take responsibility for any customer outage, regardless of the reasons or causes that led to it. The integration of these two networks has been quite complicated. Dealing with almost every CLEC and LEC to move circuits, change VCs, delete VCs, move equipment, is quite a challenge when you want it done *yesterday*.
