Cisco Downloads Down?

Hello All: I hope this is operational for at least some of us. It appears the Cisco website is experiencing technical difficulties. Of particular interest is the fact that the downloads section is also apparently fubar. On a positive note, when the page does partially load, I see lots of pretty new icons! Regards, Mike

A URL in the content of your message was found on...uribl.com. For resolution do not contact Cox Communications, contact the block list administrators.) This seems a rather unwise policy on behalf of cox.net -- their customers can originate scam emails, but cox.net abuse desk apparently does not care to hear about it.

General question on rfc1918

Hi there, I just had a real quick question. I hope this is found to be on topic. Is it to be expected to see rfc1918 src'd packets coming from transit carriers? We have filters in place on our edge (obviously) but should we be seeing traffic from 192.168.0.0 and 10.0.0.0 et cetera hitting our transit interfaces? I guess I'm not sure why large carrier networks wouldn't simply filter this in their core? Thanks, -Drew

Looking to fill the NANOG US Thanksgiving void (as a Canadian in the USA, I have some spare time): In San Jose, an upstream is charging us this 5% tax: http://www2.csjfinance.org/UUT.asp I think it's bogus, because the tax "applies to intrastate telephone communications only" and, consistent with the long-standing FCC 128 tariff, Internet circuits are regarded has being interstate and not intrastate. But the upstream says: >> Our tax advisors at Deloitte have confirmed that we are required to >> charge the San Jose User Utility Tax shown on your invoice. >> The Internet Tax Freedom Act exemption is not applicable to our >> services as this exemption is for internet access only, not >> bandwidth usage. I think the last sentence is not relevant, but even if it is relevant, is it correct? I note that wikipedia says: >> This law bars federal, state and local governments from taxing >> Internet access and from imposing discriminatory Internet-only >> taxes such as bit taxes, BANDWIDTH TAXES, and email taxes.
