The generic response has to be to go with a small 2 port Ethernet router (e.g., Cisco 2514). Tony

NetStat Parser/Client

Hello, A few weeks ago someone mentioned that InterWeather was going to release their client code for network monitoring. While they don't yet exist, NetStat.Net's client code and parser are both available for download from http://netstat.net/ The code uses ping to measure latency and loss and presents the data in an intelligible way. The code is covered under the GNU GPL. If anyone has any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me. I hope you find this information useful. Unix box with multiple NICs if they want to be thrifty. No need for any RIP/OSPF/BGP. Ahh but you're wrong.. Ashworth is his family identifier. It gives him a possible relationship with other "Ashworth"s in existance. Chaotic and diverse naming is fine as long as you have a rather nice way of indexing it all. But.. we don't. (And don't joke about search engines..) FOr example. Wouldn't it make more logical sense if there existed a domain 'movie.com' with which movies were registered under? Saves stuff like http://www.titanic-themovie.com/ or whatever it is since Titanic is taken. And it means that there can be a rather logical choice to start a search of your favourite movie's official web presence. What about looking for a car? GOing online shopping? Finding pr0n? (oh wait, thats one thing search engines are good for..) With the sheer amount of information on the internet today there really needs to be a decent distributed indexing system for all of it. DNS could have been it if it were maintained a little more thoughtfully from the beginning. My 2c.. (I think its 0.7c in the US..) Adrian

Last I heard, LC cataloging had a backlog of about a million books. But, they get to see the pre-prints 6-12 months early from major publishers participating in CIP, so it tends to even out. Obligatory explanation, not everything published or copyrighted is accepted by LC for inclusion in their permenant catalog. DRA is not affiliated with LOC. I suppose someone should check with John, but I did a quick check of Books in Print, OCLC, RLG, and MELVYL and didn't see anything called "OSPF Complete Implementation." I don't know if it is part of a boxed set, had a title change, or is being published by a different publisher which doesn't get its stuff in the major databases as fast.
