Any-to-any connectivity is an O(x^2) (quadratic) problem. When you build a fabric, you can add new pizza-boxes in a linear fashion as long as the existing boxes have spare ports to plug in the new boxes. As soon as the spare ports run out, the quadratic hits. Then the choices are either: * Reduce any-to-any bandwidth to recover spare ports. * Replace all the boxes by larger ones. * Add a tier. Adds hops and increases convergence. Good day, We have 45.59.96.0/22 that can not reach destinations on the IBM Cloud - AS35361. I have shifted our routing around to validate that regardless of which of our upsteam transit providers we send the traffic on it always fails when it reaches their edge which is through Torix for us due to being located in Ontario. Our other IP blocks are working fine. I have emailed to the contacts on the WHOIS record with no response. There is a published lg.softlayer.com that would be helpful but the site is down. If there is someone who has a known good contact from the IBM Cloud or if someone from AS35361 is able to contact me off list that would be appreciated. PIR.org contact me, ASAP, please?

Hey there, Dayjob recently got a report from compliance(a)tucows.com alleging that an old, historic bind9.tar.gz.asc (a plain-text checksum file) on ftp.isc.org is malware. It’s not. It’s a false positive. Additionally, the URL they sent to vew the reporting material is http-only, and does not work, but it’s not hosted by tucows/hover, it’s hosted at http://url4091.abuse-report.pir.org, is http-only (what year is it?) and doesn’t work! Nor does that report actually come out and say what the file in question is, it’s only shown in an attached screenshot. Given what recently happened to another important internet domain (one of our IP providers) being put on administrative hold due to basically one complaint of fraud, I am incredibly concerned. I’ve been in touch with the registrar that holds our domain name about this (Hover/Tucows), and I’ve got a direct line with the CTO, but I need assurances that this will not lead to obnoxious actions, a week before Christmas. -Dan (From personal address, but with very much DayJob hat on)

Web.com support

I just had a customer transfer a domain from Web.com <http://web.com/> to NameCheap.com <http://namecheap.com/>. The domain just released today and web.com <http://web.com/> deleted all DNS records, so I’m unable to log into NameCheap to change DNS because they use email 2FA. I called into NameCheap and they allowed me in, but is there any rules saying that the DNS zone should be at least up for 24 hours or something after a pending transfer is completed?

Need Centurylink contact for serious ongoing issue

I apologize for using NANOG for this, but I need to get some traction on a telephone outage affecting a large number of homes in a small town that Centurylink seems to be unaware of. The affected customers have had no phone service for days and none of them know what's going on. Centurylink customer service says there are no outages in the area and just want to dispatch a tech to an individual home rather than escalate this as the emergency that it is. This is a rural area with poor cell service, so many of these customers have no alternative. I'm particularly concerned that many of the affected customers would be unable to reach emergency services, and haven't been able to for 3-4 days already.
