Hello all. The APRICOT 2025 Organising Committee would like to welcome everyone to join us in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, from the 19th to the 27th, February 2025. The APRICOT 2025 Programme Committee is responsible for the solicitation and selection of suitable presentations and tutorial content for the APRICOT 2025 conference (https://2025.apricot.net/) We are now seeking VOLUNTEERS from the community to join the APRICOT 2025 PC to assist with the development of the programme for APRICOT 2025. Eligible PC candidates must have attended recent APRICOT events, have broad technical knowledge of Internet operations, and have good familiarity with the format of APRICOT. Having constructive opinions and ideas about how the programme content might be improved is of high value too. PC members are expected to work very actively to solicit content, follow-through for speaker updates and review submissions for technical merit . The PC meets by conference call, weekly in frequency during the three months prior to APRICOT. While participation in the weekly calls is not obligatory, active participation in content reviews is required at all times to help the PC reach consensus. PC members who are unable to fully participate in the programme development will be excused from the PC. If you are interested in joining the PC and meet the above eligibility criteria, please send a brief note to "pc-chairs at apricot.net". The note must include affiliation (if any) and a brief description about why you would make a good addition to the PC. The PC Chairs will accept nominations received by 17:00 UTC+8 on Sunday 27th October 2024, and will announce the new PC shortly thereafter. Many thanks! I know this is a NANOG forum but curious how widespread usage of MACsec might be. (https://1.ieee802.org/security/802-1ae/).Currently reading the spec but wanted to pose some questions. I'm seeing some pitfalls: 1) May not work over wireless LAN devices? 2) Needs a centralized key server. 3) May not be supportable on all devices? Purported to be faster on the LAN than IPsec because MACsec is on layer 2. Thoughts?

It can be challenging to advise DDoS mitigation subscribers on their RPKI-ROA needs

DDoS mitigation services, particularly those that dynamically announce more specific routes during an attack, add complexity when advising customers on creating their RPKI-ROAs. Smaller organizations, often served by networks that provide DDoS mitigation on their behalf, might be unaware of these services or lack an understanding of how traffic is rerouted. In some cases, you can identify customers of DDoS mitigation services by looking at as-sets published by these providers or by investigating related IRR objects for the IP addresses. However, this approach isn’t reliable. Currently, there’s no established best practice for helping organizations determine the correct ROAs to create. This can lead to confusion, especially when DDoS mitigation is involved. ARIN plans to implement a check in their hosted RPKI interface that will help validate proposed ROAs against the current global routing table. While this feature will be useful, there is a risk that it could give DDoS mitigation customers a false sense of security. They might create ROAs that inadvertently block their DDoS scrubbing service from functioning properly. I’d like to engage with stakeholders in this space to explore opportunities for improvement.
