Subject: Call for Presentations for NANOG 92 in Toronto, Canada NANOG Community, The NANOG Program Committee (PC) would like to remind you that we are accepting proposals for in-person or live remote presentations at all sessions of NANOG 92, taking place in Toronto, ON, Canada on October 21-23, 2024. Below is a summary of key details and dates from the Call For Presentations on the NANOG website, which can be found at https://www.nanog.org/program/call-presentations/. Requested Topics: We are aiming to showcase presentations throughout NANOG 92 focusing on IPv6. Topics can range from best practices, to “what I learned setting up my IPv6 only network”, and/or a panel discussion on how ISPs, Research + Education, Enterprise and other industry sectors have transitioned to IPv6. Based on feedback from our recent surveys, we have seen numerous requests for the following topics: - Network Automation - practical uses, how to get started - Kubernetes - implementation and best practices - Future of Networking - forecast for changes in technology, design, applications - Research & Education - what research is happening now in network operations - Security - various protocols of, developments in, problems/solutions - Optical Networking - technology, practice, deployment options - Tutorials - all levels, IPv6, BGP, Segment Routing, DNS, MPLS, VXLAN We are looking to schedule 1,600 minutes of content between General Session and Breakout Rooms for NANOG 92, and have confirmed 120 minutes to date - so don’t wait! Blast-RADIUS attack

Hi Nanog Today we announced a vulnerability in the RADIUS protocol, based on its outdated use of the MD5 hash function. We wanted to share it with this list because we suspect many NANOG folks could be operating RADIUS in their networks (to control admin access to routers and switches and other networking gear). Our Blast-RADIUS attack allows a Man-in-the-Middle (MitM), with access to RADIUS traffic, to gain unauthorized administrative access to the devices using RADIUS clients for authentication. It does this without needing to brute force or steal credentials or shared secrets. The attack has been given a CVSS score of 9.0. This attack works on all authentication modes of RADIUS/UDP apart from those that use EAP. It exploits a protocol vulnerability that has been present in the RADIUS specifications since the 1990s. We exploited the vulnerability by developing an improved attack on the MD5 hash function. The long-term fix is to run RADIUS over TLS. There are also short term patches for RADIUS/UDP. Vendors have released new mitigations against this attack today. Akamai connectivity issue across several states

We are seeing significant connectivity issues across several states to what appears to be only Akamai served websites. Most of all the traceroutes to impacted sites, when they are impacted, go through Dallas Equinix. For instance, we are not seeing responses from Akamai network when packets traverse 206.223.119.223. (eqix-da1.akamaitechnologies.com) but other paths appear to work just fine. Example of reproducible test: SRC: 86.63.159.1 DST: hulu.com (23.222.241.90) We have had a ticket open with Akamai since Friday and have requested updates and called in for help with little to no feedback. Can someone from Akamai reach out off-list? Its impacting quite a few key accounts. -Schylar ASN395662
