Howdy, We're a couple weeks out from NANOG 88 so I thought I'd repost a list of things I think folks with computer and engineering backgrounds might enjoy doing up here in Seattle. 1. The Connections Museum is a must-see for telecom enthusiasts (which I assume you are since you're attending a NANOG meeting). Six different phone switches (some electromechanical) and a boatload of other telecom stuff taking up a floor and a half of a "central office" building. In good working order. You can see and, to some extent, touch. https://www.telcomhistory.org/connections-museum-seattle/ Beware: It's only open on Sundays from 10 am to 3 pm, so if you want to check it out, you'll have to come in early for it. 2. The monorail (https://www.seattlemonorail.com/) is a well maintained German-engineered 1960s vision of the future. Departs from Westlake Center about 3 blocks from the hotel. Runs to the Space Needle and MoPop (the Museum of Popular Culture) which are also worth seeing. Both the monorail and space needle were built for the 1962 World's Fair. Buy tickets for the Space Needle the day before. Sunset is particularly nice. 3. Snoqualmie Falls Hydroelectric Museum and power plant https://www.pse.com/en/pages/tours-and-recreation/snoqualmie-tours Beware that Snoqualmie Falls is a half hour or so outside of the city. 4. Northwest Railway Museum (also near Snoqualmie Falls) https://www.trainmuseum.org/ 5. Museum of Flight (this is Boeing's home town, so it's a high quality aircraft museum) https://www.museumofflight.org/ 6. Pike Place Market, about 10 blocks from the hotel, is a Seattle icon. 7. Mt. Rainer, if you want to check it out, is a full-day trip: 2.5 hours to get there, 2.5 hours to get back plus the time you spend in the park. They finally cleared the snow from the roads last weekend so it's open but it's too far to catch it in an afternoon. Some things to know about Seattle: * Summer weather is good weather in Seattle. Expect sunshine, mild to warm temperatures in the day, crisp in the morning. Light if any rain. 5 am sunrise, 9 pm sunset. * Downtown Seattle parking spaces are super-tight. If you rent a car, get a small one. * Seattle is -very- dog friendly. You'll encounter our generally well-behaved canine companions on the street, in stores and possibly even in the hotel and event venues. Pack your allergy medication if you need it. bfd & IPv6 on Cisco 4948E-E / IOS 15.2

I am attempting to setup bfd with IPv6 on Cisco 4948E-E running IOS 15.2. bfd on IPv4 works great, but I'm having troubles with IPv6 and spent hours on it. The trouble exists whether I use OSPFv3 or BGP. Each side transmits, but the other side doesn't receive. Same interface works fine on IPv4. Any and all help would be appreciated! Please note that, we are looking for contributions and remote participation is actively supported ********************************* OARC 41 will be a two-day hybrid meeting and the dates are 6th and 7th September to be co-located with ICANN DNS Symposium in Da Nang, Vietnam. The Programme Committee is seeking contributions from the community. All DNS-related subjects and suggestions for discussion topics are welcome. For inspiration, we provide a non-exhaustive list of ideas: Operations: Any operational gotchas, lessons learned from an outage, details/reasons for a recent outage (how to improve TTR, tooling). doug madory is asking me for a cite for the exciting 1997/8 128/9 bgp event. my memory as reported to doug is soon after the 7007 incident, an engineer in a UUNET lab, not realizing they were connected to the real internet, used the hidden bgp test command to generate 128/9 chopped into /24s. took uunet down, but not before it propagated. does anyone have a useful cite? randy

Enabling DNSSEC signing for pagerduty.com

Hi all, We (PagerDuty) are in the process of enabling DNSSEC signing across our domains, and today (June 6th) we’re planning to enable it for pagerduty.com and associated subdomains (e.g. eu.pagerduty.com) Given the potential impact and the large number of organizations using our services, we thought it would be a good idea to let people know it’s happening in case any problems occur. If you do see any issues, feel free to contact me directly or support via support(a)pagerduty.com. As an aside, we’ve talked with a few other organizations that have enabled DNSSEC signing and have gotten a lot of useful information as a result. We’d be more than happy to hear from other people who have gone through the process and also to share what we’ve learned in the future in case it helps anyone else! This meeting will be held in hybrid format in the city of Fortaleza, Brazil. The LACNOG 2023 Program Committee invites the Internet community to submit their presentation proposals for the event. In line with the spirit of LACNOG, presentations should address topics geared towards regional Internet development.
