[ Apologies for duplicates ] WWW Information: http://www.apricot.net Sponsorship and other enquiries: info(a)apricot.net The mission of APRICOT is to develop and advance the skills and understanding necessary to grow a robust Internet infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region, by providing a forum for those key Internet builders to learn from their peers and other Internet community leaders from around the world. The APRICOT Executive Committee has selected the bid from the Singapore Computer Society (SCS - www.scs.org.sg) to host APRICOT'99 in Singapore, March 1-5, 1999. The Singapore Computer Society's prior success as a local support organization with APRICOT'96 and Singapore's reputation for being a telecommunication, transportation and service 'hub' were both considered in evaluating host city suitability. The in-principle support from many of Singapore's distinguished entities such as National Computer Board, National Science and Technology Board, Tourism Board, SingNet, Pacific Internet and National University of Singapore was also considered. However, given APRICOT's educational focus, the key of the unique proposal was bringing together the support of Internet World 1999 and the Singapore Linux Conference -- both of which are being held in Singapore during the same week. By doing so, there will be an even greater opportunity to exchange skills and understanding with an even wider audience ... for the educational benefit of all attendees -- thus helping to achieve APRICOT's mission. Try making an ISDN call from one to the other at a 64k rate. If you can get through then there are at least some trunks setup as ESF B8ZS clear channel. I suspect that they are probably some older trunks running AMI D4. Pretty much everything besides the plain text html was stripped off the pages. I noticed some of the media sites even stripped off the advertising banners, and doubleclick.com was warning its subscribers about the load. Obviously the government sites didn't have any ad banners. Although it does bring up an interesting point. Do things like doubleclick.com become unforeseen cascade points in the net? I've finally had enough... Would someone be kind enough to send me their procmail recipie which forwards mail from a certain unnamed person who has the initials J.F. to the appropriate file (/dev/null)? In interest of keeping the noise level down in nanog, I'm willing to forward any recipies I recieve to anyone who asks me for them. In other words, please don't respond to the mailing list.
