Hi NANOG, The Program Committee is very happy to announce that the AusNOG 2024 Call For Papers is now open! AusNOG 2024 will be back in Sydney, Australia at the Fullerton Hotel 5th & 6th of September 2024. We are looking for presentations that an audience working predominantly in the network operating space will find interesting and useful. As always, we do not accept marketing or sales material as part of any presentation. The CFP will close on May 30th 2024. This allows time for the Program Committee to review papers and choose the program, so we can hopefully have it published online much earlier this year. Hi, At https://internet.nl we're seeing IPv6 connection issues on TCP port 25 (SMTP) to mx[1-4].smtp.goog. Either 100% DROP (so no TCP connection) or ⅔ failure to setup connection. Further testing seems to confirm the problem is bigger and on Google's side. So, this fails: echo 'quit' | nc -6 -w 3 mx1.smtp.goog. 25 and this works: echo 'quit' | nc -4 -w 3 mx1.smtp.goog. 25 (on MacOS use -G instead of -w) Is anyone else seeing this? Any idea what is causing this? -- Marco

starlink ixp peering progress

One of the things I learned today was that starlink has published an extensive guide as to how existing BGP AS holders can peer with them to get better service. https://starlink-enterprise-guide.readme.io/docs/peering-with-starlink I am curious if there is a way to see how many have peered already, how many they could actually peer with?, and progress over time since inception.... what would be the right tools for that? Why are paper LOAs still used?

Why do companies still insist on, or deploy new systems that rely on paper LOA for IP and ASN resources? How can this be considered more trustworthy than RIR based IRR records? And I'm not even talking about old companies, I have a situation right now where a VPS provider I'm using will no longer use IRR and only accepts new paper LOAs. In the year 2024. I don't understand how anyone can go backwards like that. ~Seth

Can someone from Verizon Business please contact me? It appears that your network is losing traffic from Verizon Wireless (e.g. 63.59.39.232, 63.56.37.4, or 63.59.67.68) to me (AS33362, e.g. to 69.89.207.16). Note that 63.59.166.100 -> 69.89.207.16 was successfully (around 2023-11-27). This breaks email between us and it's been MONTHS of VZW getting nowhere. Based on some traceroutes (on 2023-11-27 and again just now), the working ones go through 140.222.234.223 (0.ae10.GW7.CHI13.ALTER.NET) while the broken ones stop at 140.222.234.221 (0.ae9.GW7.CHI13.ALTER.NET) -- Richard Laager Wikstrom Telephone Company
