Kevin The original message: Our teams at Sorbonne Université and Naval Postgraduate School have developed a new Internet topology mapping tool, Diamond-Miner. Diamond-Miner[3] combines Paris Traceroute Multipath Detection Algorithm[1] and high probing rate Yarrp[2] techniques to trace the load balanced paths at Internet Scale. We are seeking now some validation of our inferences, in particular the traceroutes links that we have found. abrupt speed changes and TCP

So it occurs to me in the rollout of 5G just walking down the street you might shift back and forth between high speed 5G bands and 4G because of uneven deployment and all sorts of other reasons. It sounds like this could vary block by block practically. I assume TCP just views this as congestion? But with all of the congestion avoidance algorithms and the rapidly fluctuating bandwidth, wouldn't that result in the sender essentially adapting to the least common denominator (eg 4G)? The same goes with latency, I suppose for real time apps. Mike

Reaching out to Sony NOC, resolving DDoS Issues - Need POC

Hi all, We've been trying to get in contact with Sony and/or Akamai to resolve an IP blacklisting issue. Support is not useful, and our customers are complaining. If anyone has a POC for somebody over at Sony or PSN who can help us resolve these issues, it would be much appreciated! We're facing some reflected DDoS attacks, where the source address is spoofed to appear to be our IPs, and as a result getting blacklisted. Sony's support has told us to "change IPs", which just isn't realistic, so we're looking for someone actually at the NOC. Already been in touch with SNEI-NOC, which has completely ignored our emails. They only seem to respond to the normal "Account Takeover" requests, or whitelist requests. All of my IP's are already whitelisted, but there seems to be a DDoS Attack that will ban anyone's IP from Sony/PlayStation Network. Akamai's also been giving us the runaround, and told us it's purely a Sony problem, so we're trying to get to the right POC to get this issue resolved Thanks in advance!

Hawaii exchange and connection to mainland pops

Hi NANOG, I'm trying to figure out how is the connectivity in the Hawaiian Islands for a project I have. I'm based in Europe and my knowledge of the details of the communications in the islands is still limited. The project is based in the O'ahu island but I'm trying to understand how things are working in the whole Hawaiian islands (pure professional curiosity). I'm focusing on two aspects: * Content delivery and connection to content providers (Google, Apple, Netflix,...) * Availability of providers that can supply wavelength between Hawaiian Islands and the continent (LA, Seattle or other locations) Doing a quick investigation I found the Aloha-IX in the PeeringDB but it looks like it doesn't have many participants and non of them appear to be a content provider. I was expecting that Hawaii being one of the major landing points of fiber in the Pacific would have some more presence of content providers and CDNs. However, I know that the total population of the island is not that much (and disperse) and maybe not enough for such kind of deployments. Also, in terms of connectivity to the continent I have not been too lucky finding providers with wavelength services. For the moment I have had some contact with GTT and NTT but not sure if there are any other regional/national providers that can also provide such services.
