Two of the country’s main service providers—FLOW and Digicel—have been severely impacted by a major ‘fibre fault” on an underground cable. Because of this, customers will experience challenges browsing the internet, loading emails, sending and receiving WhatsApp messages and making landline calls. People have reported difficulty using internet services from all corners of the country. There are also reports that some schools have been forced to suspend online classes because of a lack of internet access. A broken underwater fibre cable between Antigua and Guadeloupe is suspected to be the reason for the outage. A statement by Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) stated: “CWC advises of a possible fibre fault between Antigua and Guadeloupe on the Xtera-Optima, ECFS.” Digicel customers in Barbados and St. Vincent are also affected by the outage. Sources at FLOW stated it could take some time before services are fully restored. Information from the company’s network operations centre estimate full repair will be completed by Thursday, because damage to the underwater cables appears to be “major”. They indicated that a temporary solution is currently being put in place. While internet will return, customers are likely expected to encounter unstable connections with dropouts until the situation is rectified. Digicel posted an advisory to its Facebook page a short while ago. “Valued customer, We are aware that some of you may be experiencing an outage with your internet services. Preliminary investigations indicate that the cause is a technical issue with our international upstream internet suppliers which is affecting multiple internet providers across T&T and the Caribbean.” ===

To get off the ground, we’re white-labeling, are there any providers you like out there that can bundle Netflix as well as local/broadcast networks to my residential customers? Apple Catalina Appears to Introduce Massive Jitter

Hi all. I've been on High Sierra for several years now due to a limitation with an app that couldn't deal with Apple's latest rounds of system permissions since Mojave. Eventually, I gave up on waiting for them to fix it and upgraded my older Butterfly keyboard laptop to Catalina 4 weeks ago. At the same time, I picked up the new Magic keyboard laptop 2 weeks ago which came with Catalina. Over the past week, I've been troubleshooting a massive jitter issue on Catalina, just between itself and my home router. For control, I have a Windows PC (tower-top) using a wireless adapter to connect to my home network. That has no jitter at all. I have noticed as much as 300ms+ jitter on Catalina. I then asked a few friends around the world to run tests for me on their own Catalina installations to their local router over wi-fi, and the results are the same. Jitter so high that what should be a 1ms - 5ms latency can (for a short period) jump to 200ms+, 300ms+, 400ms+. On the off-chance that it is an issue with the new wireless chips on the later MacBook models, one of my friends tested the same on a 2013 MacBook Pro running a beta version of Big Sur. Same story! Another friend in South East Asia, testing on a 2018 13-inch MacBook Pro running Catalina, also had the same issue. A Google search suggests that this is some known issue since Mojave, to do with Location Services, and some other apps, in a non-deterministic way: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/263638/macbook-pro-experiencing-p… For me, even after disabling all or some Location Services features, the problem remains. Is anyone else seeing this on their Catalina Mac's while on wi-fi? If so, does anyone know what's going on here? Ideally, this wouldn't matter if it was just a cosmetic issue - but I do actually see physical impact to performance of network access to/from the laptop, which has all the hallmarks of high jitter and/or packet loss. An app like Zoom, which can display network performance data for a session in real-time, does indicate nominal packet loss for audio and video on this device, while other devices on the same WLAN are happy. Hulu Proxy Blocking our IP's

Hey all, We are a residential and business ISP. We don't host any servers or lease our IP space to anyone but ourselves. Yesterday we had customers report Hulu was blocking their streaming with a proxy error. Customer contacted Hulu who blamed us. I emailed the hulu email yesterday morning and haven't heard a thing back. Can someone help get this resolved for us? Instagram is enabling an harassment attack. They are sending out "change in terms of use" statements, you've probably received it. Apparently they will send them to unconfirmed accounts, en masse. So for example you own example.com and all email for *(a)example.com goes to you. And there are no legitimate email accounts for that domain so can't possibly be confirmed accounts. So you are receiving a firehose of "terms of use" emails to randomstring(a)example.com apparently being generated by a script, random+domain@domain like (from the actual emails tho not example.com) qiuncjhuxeexample(a)example.com mazhjkmthexample(a)example.com and so on and so on, each one different. SOLUTION: Stop sending your terms of use update messages to unconfirmed accounts. IRR Explorer Error/Issue

Hello everyone, There seems to an issue with IRR Explorer. I check the following prefix and I get the message, “The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there is an error in the application.” http://irrexplorer.nlnog.net/search/216.71.119.0/24 I am also seeing ARIN records are not updating on IRR Explorer. That prefix should show the ASN under ARIN for the ARIN IRR route that is registered. We are also advertising the prefix and which being advertised by Hurricane, but IRR Explorer does not see the route advertised by BGP. Hello All, This past week when I was helping my father perform some home networking, I called AT&T to get a newer Arris router and they mentioned that if I were to upgrade his service, he would fall under a 1 TB data cap for home internet.
