Using CE Router for Internet and VPN services

Hi, can someone explain me why service providers (Internet and/or L3 VPN services) obligate customers to use CE routers. Why they cannot configure more than /30 (in some cases /31) subnet mask on PE interface side for me? In that case I can use cheap L2 switch and use default gateway on all my PCs in the LAN, pointing to SP PE. Please describe all benefits and detriments of using more than /30 subnet on SP PE. Border routers

Hello guys, I need to buy 2 border routers to handle 2 155Mbps links using BGP full route with each ISP. What may I analyse at the routers hardware? I'm asking for: 1Giga Byte of RAM expansible to 1,5GB 1.000.000 FIB capacity in hardware (since 512K won't be enought soon) 1.000.000 RIB capacity. What do you recommend to ask for? Are these specifications ok? Do I need more RAM or less FIB? Is there any site I can use to see specifications for border routers? Howdy, I am curious what others in the industry think on this topic. When one registers a domain they can put in their real information or they can use a proxy, like Go-Daddy's Domains By Proxy. Now, personally, I would prefer just to get a PO Box and put that address on my domain info instead of doing a proxy. I could also put down a phone number in the registration that just goes to my general business phone line which is just a DVR. So the question I have is this: What actual security are these proxy companies providing to the end-user? My company website has my real address, my real phone number, exec bio's and pictures of them yet upper management (and our marketing company) think using a proxy is a good thing. What's the difference between using a proxy vs using a PO Box except that a PO Box is cheaper? I'd just like to get thoughts from others to see what the general feeling is on this topic. Shortest path to the world

The typical network architecture problem, what are the best (shortest latency, greatest bandwidth, etc) locations to connect to the every nation in the world? As you increase the number of locations, how do the choices change? If you only had small (2 3 5 7 11) number of locations, where would they be? And what data do you have to prove the choices are best?

Issues accessing hulu.com from new(ish) US range

Would someone from hulu.com please contact me offlist? Alternatively, if anyone has contact details for a vaguely clueful person there, that would be appreciated. We had a new range allocated to us by ARIN around 6 months ago for our US business, and hulu are claiming it's non-us. Our guess is that it's a canned response by first-line support. Also, does anyone happen to know which geolocation databases hulu use? Thanks, Chris

'Ransom' is _not_ an accurate description. Among other things it implies that the ransomer has possession of your property and you are paying for it's safe return. The 'best-fit' technical term would be 'extortion' -- SORBS operator _has_ consulted professional counsel on the matter, and has reason to believe that the exact form of what they do _is_ within the law. (I've had direct conversations with Michelle on that specific point -- it's 'closer to the line' than _I_ would care to operate. :) I mention that strictly from the standpoint that those who use descriptive terms which carry an implication of 0 action are _themselves_ likely crossing the line as regards libel/slander/defamation. Lastly, I'm going to suggest that this is drifting rather afar OT from the charter of the group, and suggest that the MLM may want to put the kibosh on this thread.

We recently added another IPv6 interview to our ipv6actnow.org and youtube pages.
