Need Help finding support for specific technology with SONET gear

Please CC me in all replies or reply offlist if not appropriate for list. I am trying to find equipment for an OC48+ ring for hauling DS3s. I've read lots of documentation on handling fiber failures and repathing the circuits the other direction on the ring. I know a lot of providers will sell half the OC48 as protected and the other half as unprotected, fiber cuts resulting in the unprotected circuits all being taken down for the protected circuits. But I need something a little different. I need something that will detect LOS on a single DS3 and repath that DS3 to a different port at a remote location. While not the cleanest transition, it will handle catastrophic failure of edge router configurations by redirecting circuits to a different location where routing is mirrored (and down until signaling is established). I also need something that will support transitioning all circuits leaving the ring at one location to another when communication is lost with that site. I can't imagine that someone hasn't done this, but I can't find any information on it. I'm not very familiar with SONET (a little lower level than I usually deal with) or what various vendors support. My telco boys tell me that their existing gear won't handle repathing single DS3's when they alarm; only fiber cuts. In addition, it would be nice if returning to the primary path can be manual or configured to wait a specified time interval to insure stability (nothing like equipment which likes to bring circuits up twice before resuming service). Hints, tips, and tricks welcome. I have certain edge routers that I need to ensure availability even during catastrophic failure without requiring each of the customers on those routers to maintain separate circuits. DNS Timeout Errors

Is anyone else experiencing DNS timeout errors. I've tried using multiple name resolvers, and tested multiple domain names using different name servers, and I keep getting "name not found" errors. drone army on the move, anyone wanna help out?

The following drone army seems to be on the move, switching binary and relay server, which is why I allow myself to post it openly. Anyone seeing any connections to http:// 69.31.79.116 /b .dat (unsafe url! spaces added by me), or machines going to IRC/ 204.180.195.166:7000 ? Service Contracts

Hi all, Hopefully this is not too off-topic; I'm looking for guidance in penalty clauses in service contract agreements. I run a small WAN for a town. We have an internet T-1, an internal frame T-1, five point-to-point T-1's and a small smattering of PVC's and low-bandwidth frame lines. I know we're small change, but I've had lines down for as long as four days and gotten little more than an apology from our current provider. Our contract expires soon and I'd like the next one to have a few more teeth, as in "if you're down for X hours you owe the customer a credit of X dollars." Is this common practice? What are typical penalty clauses like? Any guidance would be welcome, off-list is fine, I will summarize if people are interested. ---Walter

Little brother of sitefinder

It has just come to my attention that NetSol is now assigning a CNAME record of resalehost.networksolutions.com to all expired domains. This is so the web site will come up with a "This domain expired on this data, click here to renew." page. resalehost.networksolutions.com has IP 216.168.224.53, doesn't listen on port 25, and has no MX record. The upshot is, mail to expired domains, instead of being rejected outright in the SMTP dialog, sits in our queue for 5 days. Users don't know right away that mail isn't getting through. This isn't quite on the same level as Sitefinder, but it's the same mindset, make a change without examining the impact. The operational impact has been support time spent finding out why mail has supposedly disappeared, and/or is sitting in our queue.
