[traceroute showing singapore->teleglobe-in-LA->Alternet-in-LA-> Alternet-in-DC->Teleglobe-in-Montreal] "AS Healing" via another network has been done the past, this looks an awful lot like an example of that. Mark, I would like to understand why you need to use access by IP address rather than DNS name. Using DNS CNAME records for URL domain lookup would seem to insulate one rather well from renumbering. Is there a way to buy a routable /24? Thanks in advance for any advice, on or off list. Yes and no. Can you half-drown yourself at the watering hole? If you (BGP) peer with the ISP(s) at the Colo facility, then you can advertise your Ip space and it will work at any facility. The bad news is that if you advertised Provider A's Ip space, and then go to a colo not served by Provider A, they will (rightly) want their Ip's back. Deaggregation of class B..

Can anyone offer some advice on how to explain to my boss that further deaggregating and spreading little announcements of our class B to different ISPs all over the world is a bad idea? ARIN to Allocate from 67.0.0.0/8 and 68.0.0.0/8

In the near future, ARIN will begin making allocations from 67.0.0.0/8 and 68.0.0.0/8. This will include allocations of /20 and shorter prefixes, according to ARIN's minimum allocation policy. aol rejects mailing lists?

Hey guys, I've noticed on one of the mailing lists that I'm running that AOL has just started bouncing email (like literally a few minutes ago) sent to subscribers of the list. Email does get delivered properly when sent directly to the subscribers. If the mail gets delivered thru the list, it's rejected with a 550 MAILBOX NOT FOUND which is bogus. Anyone encountered this before? How do I get them to stop this nonsense? Help? Hi, We're looking around for a new colocation provider for aroudn ~100Mbit traffic. (Not much for the average NANOG participant I'm sure, but that's what we've got ... :-) ) Level3 are giving us a pretty good quote; and all their competitors' sales bozos ramble on about how they're "second tier" and bla bla bla. What's the (technical) truth? Does Level3 have decent connectivity (primarily from their colos in the Bay Area and Los Angeles). From what traceroutes and such I can do it looks just fine and Yahoo wouldn't be using them if they sucked that badly, huh? Any gotchas we should be aware of about Level3? FWIW, the other facilities we're looking at are Digital Island and Exodus. Any others that would be recommended? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
