Dear NANOG 47 Attendee-- As we come together for NANOG47, October 18 - 21, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn, with strong attendance and excellent program, here are a few highlights and reminders for you to be aware of. NANOG Email Lists -------------------------- First, the email list attendee(a)nanog.org is a new email list used by Merit, the NANOG Steering, Program , and Mail List Committees to communicate meeting information directly with meeting attendees. NANOG-Attendee(a)nanog.org is an email list used by NANOG meeting attendees who choose to communicate with each other regarding meeting activities. NANOG-Support(a)nanog.org is an email list used to communicate with Merit staff directly. Agenda ---------- The agenda is complete and available at: http://www.nanog.org/meetings/nanog47/agenda.php An abbreviated copy will be provided in your name badge at registration. Check-in: ------------ When you arrive at the meeting, please check in at the meeting registration desk to pick up your name badge, t-shirt, and important handouts. The registration desk will be in the First Floor Foyer by the Grand Ballroom, and open during the following hours: Sunday: 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. Monday: 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday: 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday: 8 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. Community Meeting: --------------------------- An important part of every NANOG meeting is the opportunity to hear updates from, and communicate with, the various committees that are responsible for supporting the meetings and the NANOG community. As this meeting is for the community, we hope you will attend and participate in that session on Sunday, October 18, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom. Informal BOF Sign-up ---------------------------- An important new offering at NANOG is the opportunity to suggest an informal BOF session on Monday evening. The Birds of a Feather sessions provide an opportunity to discuss special interest topics in a NANOG meeting room. Question about Mark Koster's ARIN presentation

I stood up to ask a question, but before I got to the end of the table, the session chair was saying "OK, thanks, Mark". I guess I'm just too short. So this question is for Mark Kosters, and I'm asking here so the audience gets to hear/see the answers: The presentation said that you would be doing a lot of work to improve the IRR. The last I asked, the ARIN IRR did not support the RPSS (Routing Policy System Security - RFC2725). RIPE supports this, I know. Will the improvements include support for the RPSS? The presentation talked about the RPKI pilot, and Mark said that they'd be using the RIPE code. I believe RIPE has had a couple of different attempts at this, so I'm not sure what features the code you use will have. Will you have the ability to hand certs to ISPs so that they can so their own cert generation for the allocations they hand to customers? (I.e., is ARIN going to just run a service for its members or will it enable growth of the RPKI tree below it?) --Sandy

Rogue RA

I mentioned that we often get rogue RAs on wireless networks. Conferences are no exception. If I have decoded the 6to4 address properly, the RAs are being announced by the host with IPv4 address 75.196.207.17, which is a Verizon Wireless data IP address. If this is you, can you please turn off connection sharing while you're in the conference area? Also, I wouldn't mind learning more about your configuration (if you're willing to chat) so that I can replicate it in the lab. I am testing various defenses against rogue RAs. thanks, michael
