If you took the NANOG survey in the last hour or so you may have been
surprised to see a bunch of questions about sessions that will happen
later today. Apologies for that glitch. The correct survey has been
restored and we invite you to revisit the following link to take a
survey relevant to Sunday's sessions. You may need to relaunch your
browser to successfully return to the survey page:
http://www.nanog.org/survey
--NANOG Support
Dear NANOG49 Attendee--
At NANOG49 you'll be able to give your feedback via online surveys a
number of times during the meeting. There will be surveys on each day of
the meeting, each asking specific questions about sessions that took
place recently. The current survey is always available at the following
page:
http://www.nanog.org/survey
As a first step you can take the initial survey now, any time through
the end of the morning break on Monday, June 14. This survey asks for
comments on Sunday's sessions and your overall experience so far.
We're glad to provide some extra incentives to complete the surveys.
There will be drawings for valuable prizes, courtesy of Netflix, after
the morning breaks on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. To participate,
complete the survey using the link above by 11:20 a.m. on Monday and
Tuesday and by 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday.
When you have completed a survey (administered at SurveyMonkey.com) you
will be directed to a NANOG page where you can, if you choose, enter
your name and organization to be eligible for a prize drawing. Your
survey submission is not connected to the process by which your name is
collected for the drawing, and your submission will remain anonymous.
Prize winners each day will be randomly selected from the list of people
who have submitted their names upon completing the current survey.
Thank you for participating in this new approach and for offering your
feedback on the meeting.

Hi,
I live in north Austin but sometimes get downtown.
North By Northwest is an upscale brewpub in north Austin. They brew their
own and actually cook good food. Imho, brewpubs usually do one or the
other well - this place does both well so I also highly recommend it.
If you're looking for entertainment, start at 6th street.
http://www.6street.com/
There's too many places for me to name but it is a very competitive area
so mediocre places don't last long. The conference hotel is within
walking distance of 6th street. I'd also recommend walking south, towards
the river, and I can also recommend places south of the river along
Congress Ave.
The Congress Ave. bridge is where the bats hang out, but they're long gone
and won't be back till summer.
http://www.austincityguide.com/content/congress-bridge-bats-austin.asp
Here's a place with many beers from Texas and the rest of the world.
http://www.gingermanpub.com/
If you go, tell Jeff (one of the managers) that Chris sent you. It won't
get you anything but he'll be pleased to hear.
A bit to the north, a place with lots of beer and some pub grub.
http://www.draughthouse.com/
It has a good "homey" feel to it.
If you're in the mood for a movie, try an Austin original: The Alamo
Drafthouse.
http://www.drafthouse.com/
The story goes that a couple liked watching movies with friends while
eating decent food and drinking beer. They bought an unused theater,
removed every other row of seats and replaced them with tables. The wait
staff will bring you food (decent pub grub) and beer (a wide selection)
during the movie. (They also have wine but I don't have any friends
like that.) They are successful and have expanded.
If you're in the neighborhood for a spell, drive out Texas 290 to
Fredericksburg. Along the way you'll find:
The LBJ Ranch near Johnson City.
http://www.nps.gov/lyjo/index.htm
A Texas wildflower farm.
http://www.wildseedfarms.com/
Several Texas wineries.
http://www.texaswinetrail.com/index.html
My favorite is Becker.
http://www.beckervineyards.com/
When you get to Fredericksburg, you'll find much eclectic shopping and
several b&b's.
http://www.fredericksburgtexas.com/http://www.fbgtx.org/
And my favorite places:
http://www.yourbrewery.com/index.htmlhttp://www.theauslander.com/
I hope that y'all have a great time here. Unfortunately, I won't be
joining as I've got a trip elsewhere next week.
Hope this helps,
Chris

If you are planning on taking a taxi from the Detroit airport, you will
find that there are none. Apparently there's a dispute between the taxi
company and the airport.
There is car service available for about $40, but there can be long waits
if you have not made an advanced reservation. It would be a very good
idea to make a reservation or rent a car if you haven't departed yet.
