Dear NANOG 54 Attendees, We look forward to seeing you at NANOG 54, hosted by Telx, February 5-8, at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter Hotel. We are expecting excellent attendance, with over 540 registered attendees to date. This message contains information and brief reminders to help you prepare for the meeting. *Agenda and Highlights* The complete agenda is available at: http://www.nanog.org/meetings/nanog54/agenda.php An abbreviated paper copy will be provided with your name badge. Highlights of the meeting agenda and other activities are summarized at: http://www.nanog.org/meetings/nanog54/highlights.html *Checking into the Westin Gaslamp* Those of you arriving for hotel check-in will be directed to the hotel’s lobby. Please proceed to the front desk, using the hotel entrance. We encourage you to check your bags at the curb with the Bell Stand, where the hotel is providing additional staff to assist NANOG attendees. Please note, due to delayed renovation work, the hotel main lobby is closed and will remain closed for the duration of NANOG 54 . Additional signage will be in place to direct NANOG attendees from the check-in desk to the second floor, where meeting registration is located. In addition, the hotel restaurant, Horton’s, will be open and available for breakfast/lunch/dinner/evening drinks. The NANOG Lounge – open seating area – will be available to you for the duration of the meeting, with 24 hour access. The NANOG Lounge is centrally located on the second floor, in the Presidio/Sierra Rooms. In addition, NANOG attendees will have access to a Grab N’ Go food station located in the NANOG Lounge on Monday, February 6 and Tuesday, February 7, 9am-noon. Please note that the Grab N’ Go station is CASH ONLY. Here, you will be able to get items such as: soda, fruit, chips, muffins, etc. *Meeting Registration* Meeting registration will be located on the second floor of the hotel, in the California Foyer. If you are staying at the hotel, you can get to the second floor via the hotel elevators. If you are not staying at the hotel, or if you are coming from outside of the hotel, you can go directly to the second floor by using the exterior staircase that is accessible from the driveway (outside of the hotel main entrance). You will find the NANOG registration desk on the 2nd floor, where you can pick up your name badge, t-shirt, attendee gifts and important handouts. *The registration desk will be open during the following hours: Sunday: Noon to 6:45 p.m., Monday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday: 8 a.m. to Noon.* *Member Meeting* We invite you to attend and participate in the NANOG Member Meeting on Sunday, February 5, from 5:45-6:45 p.m. in the California Ballroom. The Member Meeting, hosted by the NANOG Board, is an important opportunity to learn about organizational updates from and communicate with the Board of Directors and other NANOG committees. *Newcomers Breakfast, and Debrief* If this is your first NANOG meeting, you are encouraged to attend the Newcomers Breakfast with Old Timers (Meet and Greet the NANOG community and start socializing) at 8:30 a.m. Monday in the Garden Pavilion/San Diego Ballroom, where Board, Committee members along with other long-time NANOGers will talk about the organization, meetings, and how to make the best use of both. Or you can stay in the train station and take a septa train two stops free with your amtrak stub. Ask one of the amtrak folks for the next train going to east market. Hi folks, While the train from the airport in Philly to the Loews Hotel on 12th and Market is usually the best way to approach City Center, this weekend it is closed for repairs. Apologies for the short notice but please plan to either take the bus or jump in a cab ($30ish) to reach the conference hotel. The good news is the weather is lovely and the various marches towards City Hall have been colorful experiences this afternoon. See y'all here soon! Cheers, -ren

Dear Fellow NANOG 53 Attendees, We're looking forward to seeing you in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia! As Philly is my hometown, I hope that you're all as excited as I am to spend a few great days there. Please feel free to come see myself or ask any of our gracious hosts from Comcast for recommendations for things to see and do in the city! On behalf of the NANOG Committees, I'd like to invite you to NANOG 53's Newcomers Breakfast on Monday, October 10th, from 08:30am to 09:30am, in Washington A/B. Our breakfast will be sponsored by Google, who has generously agreed to feed all of us! (Please make sure you say 'Thank You' to them!) As either NANOG first-timer or registered attendee you are welcome to join us for this lively breakfast. As the lead for this session, it is my goal to get to know all of you, for you to get to know each other, and for you to learn a little about the NANOG organization, its structure, and key people. We will have representatives from the NANOG Board of Directors, Program Committee, Communications Committee, and the Marketing Committee. Being from Philly, I'd like to add that once it gets dark out, I'd highly recommend only using a taxi to travel between 30th St station and the hotel. Even though it's a short walk from the train station to the hotel or the hotel to evening events, I'd still travel by cab and not walk. Or try and walk in groups.
