ME: OK. RB: You didn't [blah blah blah tirade tuned out about CAIS and AGIS]. ME: OK. RB: Why don't you return my phone calls or answer my mail? ME: For some time now I have received much more mail and many more phone calls than I can personally answer. RB: I'm going to fuck the AGIS network any way I can. ME: So, you're going to fuck the AGIS network... Here I paused to consider my responses, which could have included: - Thank you. - Thank you very much. - Fuck you. - Fuck you very much. - I'd fuck your network back, but I don't want to catch whatever's given you those running sores. - Fuck your network and the horse it rode in on. - about a million other vulgar things I could think of. but instead, I said: "Then I'll squash you like a bug," which seemed to me to be a proportionate, non-vulgar, measured, I'm-the-bigger-person response to a pretty off-the-graph, vulgar, and irresponsible tirade. > Peter is doing wonders for inter-provider relations. Then get an email account at AOL. I consider you to be speaking for CAIS. There's a very serious issue here for CAIS, which is that a man purporting to be its president/owner/whatever acted quite irresponsibly. The way to get even with AGIS, if that's what he needs to do, is to build a bigger better network and win over our customers, not 'fuck' the AGIS network, with all the consequences that suggested action implies for our customers. In light of Ron's comment to me, I think it would be in the best interest of AGIS's customers to email or call Mr. Ron Burleson of CAIS/CGX (email address conveniently cc'd above by JDF) and ask him how he intends to fuck AGIS (by SYN flooding or other denial of service attack, physically damaging colocates, or what). When he doesn't respond, bury his office with calls and mail, or even better, track him down at IETF or the next NANOG, get him into a corner, and demand to know why he didn't return your calls and mail. This is an auto-generated mail on Fri Oct 25 12:00:01 PDT 1996 It is not checked before it leaves my workstation. However, hopefully you will find this report interesting and will take the time to look through this to see if you can improve the amount of aggregation you perform. The report is split into sections: 0) General Status List the route table history for the last week, list any possibly bogus routes seen and give some status on ASes. 1) Gains by aggregating at the origin AS level This lists the "Top 30" players who if they decided to aggregate their announced classful prefixes at the origin AS level could make a significant difference in the reduction of the current size of the Internet routing table. This calculation does not take into account the inclusion of holes when forming an aggregate so it is possible even larger reduction should be possible. 2) Weekly Delta A summary of the last weeks changes in terms of withdrawn and added routes. Please note that this is only a snapshot but does give some indication of ASes participating in CIDR. Clearly, it is generally a good thing to see a large amont of withdrawls. 3) Interesting aggregates Interesting here means not an aggregate made as a set of classful routes. Please bear in mind this is purely a "snapshot" and a large flucuation could be caused by a connectivity problem for example. However, this does give some indication of service providers that are moving to classless routing. I read with great interest the "Ungodly packet loss rates" thread. It appears that an Internet user did a reasonably good job of articulating his frustration with the quality of Internet service he was receiving. The response from the nanog list was generally unsympathetic, (with a very few notable exceptions such as Kent, Curtis and Tony). The user was told that his mail was "inappropriate" and was even called a "whiner" and told to "shut up," (comments which apparently were not considered inappropriate). I had a couple of thoughts about this thread: o If I were writing an Internet-II proposal, I would consider using this thread to bolster my case that my community of interest needs an Internet VPN such as Internet-II because the Internet operations community is unreceptive to complaints about the service I am receiving. o If I were reviewing Internet-II proposals, I might hope that I got done with my reviews before, for example, a University president sent mail to nanog complaining about the Internet service his or her university was receiving. -tjs

Can you please limit your postings to like one or mabey 2 lists and not like 5! I am sorry that I am replying to all of the lists that you posted to, but I feel that my message should go every where you sent your message. Also I would assume that this release was done by some marketing person at ALLTEL....I would not want to find out what percent of press releases have inaccuricies such as this one and who knows it might be all true they might have 700 ISP customers???? Just so that I know other than peter saying many months ago about the whole lawyers thing, and that you and most of AGIS do not get along, what else has AGIS done to you?
