Internic doesn't care about valid contact information

While we are at the discussion about contact information from the Internic... Internic doesn't care at all what you enter in the address, name, contact info etc - as long as you are paying for it. According to the agreement which you must agree to for requesting a domain name (http://www.internic.net/help/agreement.txt, paragraph K), you are supposed to give them the correct information. But I came accross a whois entry which was completly fake (like phone number of 111-111-1111, non-existing address in a non-existing city etc. The only (probably) correct part was a email address - which is one of the web-based anonymous emails.) I'm not talking about possible wrong (outdated) contact info - this case was clear that the person which registered the domain name didn't care about giving correct information and didn't hide it at all. When I mailed a copy of this to Internic and asked them how this fits their agreement.. I mainly got the following information: [...] "Although we are concerned about the validity of information in the WHOIS database, it is the responsibility of the domain name registrant to maintain current information. Erroneous or incorrect information, such as an invalid phone number or a non-functioning e-mail address is not just cause for cancellation of a domain name. Domain names are only deleted at the request of the registrant or via our normal billing cycles." [...] Oh well.. it certainly helps the Internet community if you are now allowed to register completly anonymous domain names. - Martin Winter (speaking for himself only)

Secondary DNS for Paraguay's TLD?

It appears that a network problem of some sort has knocked Paraguay's top level domain off the air. Not surprising when you look at the output for: whois py-dom and see this: NS.CNC.UNA.PY 200.10.228.132 SCE.CNC.UNA.PY 200.10.228.133 If anyone on this list is prepared to make a serious offer of secondary DNS for this country, then please email the admin contact gbellas(a)UCA.EDU.PY and the technical contact hmereles(a)CNC.UNA.PY. Guidelines for Information Technology Infrastructures

There was some talk a few days/weeks ago about a mailing list related to data centers. While this URL is not geared towards datacenters and more focused on the general planning for technological infrastructre(s) in an educational (school) environment, nonetheless, I believe it serves as an excellent *primer* for those seeking general information on construction and planning of facilities. There seems to be quite a need for that information on this list judging from the responses concerning the datacenter forum. The guidelines were provided by the subcontracted architectural and engineering firm of Einhorn, Yanee & Prescott for the Board of Education NY State. The nice thing about the document is all the standards used to generate each particular section are located on each page. This alone will give people a good background on which agencies to obtain certain types of information from. ns.ripe.net [193.0.0.193] and merapi.switch.ch [130.59.211.10] act as authoritative (secondary) name servers for PY and its direct generic subdomains {com,edu,gov,org,net,org}.py. I'm not sure whether these have been requested to be added to the delegation yet.
