Google Captcha

Last month one of our residential /20 blocks started to get the Captcha page when searching Google. Around the same time we get access denied on QVC.com So far nothing out of the ordinary has been observed with regards to the networks and I do not see any blacklisting sites listing the block in question. I am open to any ideas and would love to have someone at Google look into this se we can get to the bottom of this issue. Regards, Josh

Hurricane Ida updates

Two 19-year-old linemen died in an electrocution accident in Jefferson County, Alabama assisting with storm recovery. Cause under investigation. at least 66 deaths confirmed: 25 in New Jersey (at least 8 died in vehicle flooding), 17 in New York (at least 11 died in basement apartment flooding), 12 in Louisiana (4 died from CO poisoning), 5 in Pennsylvania, 2 in Mississippi, 2 in Alabama, 1 in Maryland, 1 in Virginia, 1 in Connecticut (state police officer vehicle flooding) Power outages (poweroutage.us) 756,173 Louisiana 9,615 Pennsylvania 7,256 Mississippi Entergy New Orleans no expects most power to be restored by September 8, 2021. Reminder, Puerto Rico is still experiencing rolling blackouts after 2017 hurricanes destroyed its power grid. There were over 374 Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) issued nation-wide between August 26, 2021 (initial Hurricane warnings) and September 2, 2021. I'm still digging into how many WEA messages are related to Hurricane Ida (HUW event codes) versus other severe weather events elsewhere (e.g. FRW event codes - wildfire warnings in California). Remember your Roku, Amazon Firestick, Google TV, etc. streaming devices don't alert you to emergency warnings. Amazon Alexa does have an option to activate severe weather warnings on its Echo/Echo Show devices. FCC outage reporting does not expand beyond gulf coast

As Hurricane Ida moved across the eastern part of the country, the FCC did not expand its DIRS reporting. So today's outage reports only includes Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi. It does not include New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, etc. Hurricane Ida death toll: 29 people to date, expected to increase. Public Safety Answering Points (9-1-1): 3 PSAPs in Louisiana are still re-routing calls. Average cell site outages (averaging over a large area makes the percentages lower) 25% out of service. Individual counties have 40% to over 73% cell sites out of service in Louisiana. Cable and Wireline outages Alabama: 1,119 Louisiana: 448,557 Mississippi: 7,127 The number of customers out of service increased since August 30, likely due to power backup failing and circuits damaged during recovery activities (i.e. clearing poles from roads, cutting trees, etc.) No reports from other states. 2 TV, 11 FM radio and 4 AM radio stations reported out of service. There may be more, but not required to immediately inform the FCC. Power status(customers out of service): 925k out in LA, 93k out in PA, 61k out in NJ 35k, out in MS, 31k out in NY

Walkie-Talkie Apps on cell phones still require working Internet access

Another reminder.... Walkie-talkie apps on smartphones, like Zello, still require working Internet access. They don't work without cell or wifi service and internet access. Zello keeps reminding people, it REQUIRES internet access; but people don't get it. https://www.reuters.com/article/factCheckNew/idUSL1N2Q31SN Only about 5% of households have a NOAA/Weather radio with battery backup (slightly higher in tornado alley).

Telecommunications network drafting software

Hello folks, Would you care to share some pointers to drafting software which you use to draw up architectural drafts (for telecoms networks, including cable operators' networks) ? I've found Visio to be a bit weak in this respect, even after adding third party stencils.
