Fort - Now Available as a FreeBSD Port

For those who run FreeBSD, the Fort RPKI validator is now available in the ports tree: https://www.freshports.org/net/fort/ Many thanks to Toni Kalombo for submitting and maintaining the port, and to Philip Paeps to committing it. Safe Geo-location Defaults

Has anyone published "safe" geo-location defaults? By safe I mean default lat/lon coordinates for a country, state/province, city, postal code which do not resolve near a residence. It seems like too many people use "Find My <device>" or other geo-location services, and then go to the exact location shown on the mapping service for the default lat/lon which is often a default location. Knock on the person which happens to live near the default centroid, and acuse them of stealing their <device> because "Find My <device>" showed that location.

Hi Omar, This is likely a hoax. Probably a “joe job” - making it appear as someone innocent is responsible. Its good to share this info to raise network operators awareness since even if it is fake its concerning how many received it. I’ll leave it to the pros here to tell us if we shouldn’t worry. Hello all, I've been googling around trying to figure out which Broadcom silicon is in the S4148-ON. I haven't really been able to make much of a determination. Does anyone know which chipset this is? Trident 1? Trident 2? Trident 3? Thanks so much if anyone has already figured this out. -Drew

Anyone else getting the 'spam' bomb threat?

I've now heard from several operators - our selves included - about getting an e-mail bomb threat to our datacenters asking for $5,000 USD or the "bomb will be detonated". Is this being seen on a wide spread e-mail blast to the RIR contacts, or am I just unlucky to know like 6 other data center folks who have also gotten this e-mail? It seems like a very odd/bizarre spam/threat campaign which would carry significant jail time.

Geo-location - IP Location Websites

Dear All, If you are running a website that provides IP Location data; it's only fair that you be updating your data fast enough (not more than a month) and poll the correct information provided by the respective RIRs and more especially if other services rely on your data to lock services. Apart from that, how do you all get them to quickly change their records especially for a block that you recovered from one country and moved to another within the same RIR region/continent?
