WASHINGTON – A Maryland man was sentenced late yesterday in Alexandria, Va., to 30 months in prison for his role in a sophisticated conspiracy to import and sell counterfeit Cisco-branded computer networking equipment. The sentence is the result of an investigation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations<http://links.govdelivery.com:80/track?type=click&enid=bWFpbGluZ2lkPTIwMTEwO…>( HSI<http://links.govdelivery.com:80/track?type=click&enid=bWFpbGluZ2lkPTIwMTEwO…> ). Donald H. Cone, 48, of Frederick, Md., has also been ordered to pay $143,300 in restitution and to serve three years of supervised release following his prison term. A federal jury convicted Cone and a co-conspirator, Chun-Yu Zhao of Chantilly, Va., in May 2011 after a three-week trial. Zhao will be sentenced on Sept. 9, 2011. According to the evidence introduced at trial, Zhao, Cone and Zhao’s family members in China operated a large-scale counterfeit computer networking equipment business under the names of JDC Networking Inc. and Han Tong Technology (Hong Kong) Limited. JDC Networking Inc., located in Virginia, altered Cisco products by using pirated software, and created labels and packaging in order to mislead consumers into believing the products it sold were genuine Cisco products. To evade detection, Zhao used various names and addresses in importation documents, and hid millions of dollars of counterfeit proceeds through a web of bank accounts and real estate held in the names of family members in China. The case was investigated by HSI and the General Services Administration, Office of Inspector General. The same can be said for the Business support here in Central Fl Bright House region. They are generally pretty decent. If you tell them you bypassed the modem and tested. Or it's a problem off your network (routing issue upstream) they don't waste your time with making you do it again. I think the big difference here is the Residential BHN service first sends the call to the national "Road Runner" help desk. And when you get a level 2 and above, Your talking to a local person. You skip right to local if the sees your modem is dead. Where is the business support is always a local person. /2cents

Deploying IPv6 Responsibly

It doesn't help anyone for Qwest/CenturyLink to publish AAAA records or otherwise activate IPv6 services if they have no system for monitoring their single most publicly-visible service, no mechanism for alerting engineers or system administrators of trouble, no way to act on problem reports generated by users after *ten days*, and apparently no ability to actually fix the problem in a timely manner when someone with a clue finally realized what was going on. Let's not encourage Qwest, or anyone else, to deploy any more IPv6 services until they get a few things in order first. Simply turning the AAAA record back on before major, systemic oversights within the organization are fixed would be irresponsible. It will not help IPv6 progress, it will hurt it. Every other network should keep this in mind as well. If you can't support your IPv6 services, don't deploy them for public use yet! Dear Colleagues, NANOG PC has accepted our submission for DNS BoF for NANOG 53. Simply I am trying to find out what would the attendees want to see in this DNS BoF? What other recommendations those who have attended the DNS BoF despite the fact that the famous Peering BoF was at the same time =).
