Were A record domain names ever limited to 23 characters?

I seem to recollect back the 1999 or 2000 times that I was unable to register a domain name that was 24 characters long. Shortly after that, I heard that the character limit had been increased to like 128 characters, and we were able to register the name. Can anyone offer some input, or is this a memory of a bad dream? ;-] -- Steve Pirk Yensid

Issue with Sprint Wireless

Hi We are developing an android app that moves a fair amount (in the 1-2 digit megs) of data up and down over an application specific encrypted pipe (basically a custom VPN). We see great performance when we use wifi (of course) and very reasonable performance on Verizon Wireless. However, on Sprint, we are seeing consistently poor performance, no matter what phone we use. These results are independent of date, time and location, so it APPEARS to be Sprint wireless related. Eventually, everything does go through but it takes 5x to 10x the time it takes on Verizon Wireless. Has anyone had any experience, good or bad, they can relate off list? I don't *think* this is an outage, just the way the Sprint Wireless network works. Yahoo mail admin

Is there a Yahoo mail admin on the list who could help me? We had a problem with the DNS for our domain a couple of days ago (somehow authoritative nameservers were changed at Network Solutions). Some Yahoo users are still unable to send mail to users @monmouth.com, and some Yahoo users are sending fine. The problem is definitely affecting Verizon/Yahoo mail users but may be affecting others as well. I have a ticket open but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Thanks, Steve

I'm getting a rash of emails (as are some of my colleagues at work that are attending in Philly) from vendors that act like they know me, and just want to "have a drink and catch up while in Philly". Just me, or are others seeing an increase in spam from vendors that will be there? -b
