Sorry for the post but I havent made much headway on finding some help. I know several of you still run dialup modem pools. I need some help. I have a single USR total control chassis talking to cistron radius. The cistron box died today. I was able to get the files from the server, but am missing something. Looking for a consultant ASAP to help with this. subnet prefix length > 64 breaks IPv6?

Hi, I am trying to understand why standards say that "using a subnet prefix length other than a /64 will break many features of IPv6, including Neighbor Discovery (ND), Secure Neighbor Discovery (SEND) [RFC3971], .. " [reference RFC 5375] Or "A number of other features currently in development, or being proposed, also rely on /64 subnet prefixes." Is it because the 128 bits are divided into two 64 bit halves, where the latter identifies an Interface ID which is uniquely derived from the 48bit MAC address. I am not sure if this is the reason as this only applies to the link local IP address. One could still assign a global IPv6 address. So, why does basic IPv6 (ND process, etc) break if i use a netmask of say /120? I know that several operators use /120 as a /64 can be quite risky in terms of ND attacks. So, how does that work? I tried googling but couldnt find any references that explain how IPv6 breaks with using a netmask other than 64. Glen

Automate Peering Maintenance

Hello list, Want to ping the list and see how the operational community automates peering maintenance. I've spoken to a few folks and this seem completely foreign to them. By 'automate' I mean creating and updating dynamically (runs periodically) prefix and/ord AS-Path filters from IRR data and directly applying configuration to routers. I'm currently looking at bgpq, RtConfig, and IRRToolSet for generating the prefix and AS-Path filters but haven't been able to find anything that does the automatic re-provisioning/re-configuration on the peering sessions. Would be looking for tool(s) that's Junos friendly. Thanks! Cheers, RR

If anyone has some spare cycles and wants to help disrupt a DDoS, if you can look for traffic sourced within your network, destination 192.153.154.124 port 80, I'd appreciate it.
