If you believe that they have no legal right to keep the data private, then obviously any NDA surrounding that data is unenforceable, so you should have no problems signing it yourself and then completely ignoring its terms as you're asking others to do. I'm sure the judge at your civil suit will find your arguments interesting and will weigh them appropriately. Keep in mind that anyone who provides pricing data to you may not only be violating any Comcast NDA that they may have signed, but possibly the NDA they have with their employer as well. HE.net BGP origin attribute rewriting

Hello, we discovered, that at least Hurricane Electric (HE, AS 6939) does rewrite BGP origin attribute unconditionally in all routes traversing their network. This mandatory, but probably not widely known/used attribute should not be changed by any speaker except originating router (RFC 4271, section 5.1.1). HE rewrites origin for all routes. I tried communicate this issue with HE, but they're not willing change their configuration and respect mentioned RFC document, and they're claiming, that another networks (Level3 was mentioned exactly) does similar thing. In my experience, there're not so many service providers doing that. What's your view on this, do you think, that service providers can simply ignore existing RFCs? With regards, Daniel

Number of providers

Based on feedback we have received at http://as-rank.caida.org/ we are in the process of updating our AS relationship inference algorithm. We're interested to know how many providers different ASes have based on their size. We assume that it changes with size of the AS, e.g. Tier-1 have zero. We would appreciate it if anyone who is willing to provide us with their AS number and the number of their providers, would email this information to mjl(a)caida.org. Matthew Luckie CAIDA. p.s. BGP ORF in practice

What's the general consensus (hah! ;) regarding the use of RFC5291 BGP outbound route filtering? It's worked well for me in the lab, but I have yet to use it in a live environment (and I don't know that most service providers would know what I was talking about if I asked for it). Does it work great or does it end up being more pain than it's worth? Thanks :w
