Finding "Name Servers" (not NS records) of domain name

Hello everyone I was dealing with a case where there's a mismatch in nameserver of a domain (nameservers set at registrar) and NS record on the delegated servers. Now NS on delegated servers are good and I am trying to create list of domains using wrong nameservers at registrar. Now as you would be knowing if I do regular dig with ns, it provides NS records. However I was able to find nameservers by digging gTLD root for gTLD based domains. This works for .com/net/org etc but again fails for say .us, .in etc. I was wondering if there's an easy way to do it rather then running script on thousands of domain names again & again digging registry specific nameservers? May be does someone knows/runs any simple server which can be whois'ed for some basic regular output which can be printed. Regular whois output for domain names seems hard to parse. You might consider the ADA act before you go too far down this road. MTU mismatch on one link

Has anyone run into a situation where the MTU at one end of a link was configured differently from the MTU at the other end? How did you catch it? In general, do you see any need for a debugging tool to be standardized to find such mismatches? Tom Taylor

Color vision for network techs

Hello, Do any of you do any color vision screening in your interview process? How do those of you with color vision impairments compensate? I'd never considered this until I was in one of our facilities with my son (who has limited color vision) and we had a discussion about the LEDs. He could only determine on/off - not amber/red/green on the equipment we had. I'm wondering if we need a color vision requirement (or test) as part of our hiring requirements. Berry Mobley

XO outage in NJ/NY?

Anyone heard anything about an XO fiber cut in northeast? We have had a bunch of issues with some DID's in NJ today and one of our carriers forwarded a a vague statement from XO: *XO Communications is currently experiencing a fiber-cut which is causing a service interruption for some markets in the east coast region. Users may experience DID failures for numbers in NY, NJ and other surrounding areas. They are working on fixing the issue but unfortunately have not provided an ETA at this time* Just curious how widespread the effect is and if anyone knows anything more about it thanks chris

mac limit per VPLS domain

I'm wondering what would be the sane default MAC limit per VPLS domain as well as per port assuming the RSP can hold up to 512K MAC addresses please? I believe the answer would partly depend on the business model (like I can start with 2 MACs per port and 50 per domain and have customers to pay extra for additional MACs) as well as expected number of VPLS customers/domains Thank you
