I hate to do this, but it's something that anyone managing email servers (or just using a smart phone to update LI) needs to know about. I just saw this on another list I'm on, and I know that there are folks on NANOG that are on LinkedIn. ++++++++++ http://www.bishopfox.com/blog/2013/10/linkedin-intro/ LinkedIn released a new product today called Intro. They call it “doing the impossible”, but some might call it “hijacking email”. Why do we say this? Consider the following: Intro reconfigures your iOS device (e.g. iPhone, iPad) so that all of your emails go through LinkedIn’s servers. You read that right. Once you install the Intro app, all of your emails, both sent and received, are transmitted via LinkedIn’s servers. LinkedIn is forcing all your IMAP and SMTP data through their own servers and then analyzing and scraping your emails for data pertaining to…whatever they feel like. ++++++++++ Read the full article. If you're using LI via your smart phone, and you have already installed this app, you probably need to save off your contacts and data, and wipe the phone. I wouldn't trust uninstalling as enough, myself. In the long run, I'll be deleting my account. No, I don't use a smart phone to update any social media. No, I especially do not trust LI (never have, never will). BTW, they're currently adding back any contacts you've deleted. Network configuration archiving

Dear all, I am unsure what we as networkers have done in the past, but I am sure we've done our fair share of atonement and don't have to keep using RANCID. Some might say "it took ages to get rancid to do kinda what we want!", but not all software ages well. One might work in environments where archived configurations are needed to even start provisioning, one might desire a separation between actual config and transcient data. As I am evaluating our path forward, I've compiled a small list of open source projects with some biased highlights. Your feedback is most welcome, maybe I missed some interesting projects or developments. I would also be very interested in what other operators seek in a network config/state archive tool. Need help contact Smart (AS 10139) in the Philippines

Hi everyone - I always hate doing this, but I need some help getting a hold of a technical person at Smart in the Philippines, since at least one /24 of their "smartbro" internet service is returning 504's on users attempts to reach wikipedia for about the last week(but not if they go to the mobile site or a domain run by wikimedia but not wikipedia itself). We believe that they must be running some sort of transparent proxy which is malfunctioning. It is possible they have some connection to AS9299 since that seems to be their only transit provider. In case anyone is curious the methods we've tried to get in contact with them it includes : filling out the form for their tech support listed on the webpage, calling their tech support, having customers call their tech support repeatedly (sadly these two just result in support staff reading scripts and refusing to escalate), email noc@, emailing all of the addresses listed on their APNIC info, calling all of the phone numbers listed on their APNIC info, and using twitter to their customer support. I believe a volunteer is even trying to search for technical folks via facebook. If anyone has any technical contacts within this organization, it would be greatly appreciated, Leslie
