NANOGer's - There are going to be two ICANN sessions tomorrow in the area of coordination of Internet identifiers: the first one is about "Enhancing ICANN Accountability", and the second session is on the "Transition of Stewardship of the IANA Functions". If you are interested in the accountability and oversight of the Internet identifier system, you may find remote participation worthwhile. NPSec 2014 focuses on two exciting areas related to secure network protocols. The first focus is on the development and analysis of networking protocols for the secure operation of various network infrastructures, including both today's Internet and future Internet architectures, wireless and mobile networking, cloud-based networking, peer-to-peer and overlay networks, online social networking, and Internet of things. Papers about new secure protocols, security enhancements to existing protocols, or protocol analysis (such as new attacks on existing protocols) are all welcome. The second focus is on employing such secure network protocols to create or enhance network applications, such as those related to the Web, online social networking, online gaming, or cloud-based applications. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: Vulnerabilities of existing protocols and applications (both theoretical and case studies), including attacks; Design of new secure or resilient network protocols; Security enhancements to existing networking protocols Deployment study of secure protocols on the Internet (e.g., BGPSEC, DNSSEC, IPSEC); Security in future Internet architectures (e.g. Information-centric networking, software-defined networking); Secure network protocols for network applications (e.g., cloud-based apps, online social networking, gaming) Submission requirements Papers need to be submitted at the web page http://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=18197. Submitted papers must be no longer than six (6) pages in double-column format with standard margins (i.e., at least one inch all around) and at least a 10 point font. This length includes everything: figures, tables, references, appendices, and so forth. Longer submissions will not be reviewed. Papers must be written in English and formatted for printing on US LETTER (8.5" by 11") size paper. Papers should include a title; full list of authors, their organization and email address; and an abstract of fewer than 200 words. All papers must adhere to IEEE formatting standards. DNSresolvers.com shutdown imminent

As we announced nearly a year ago, DNSresolvers.com open resolvers shutdown is imminent. If you are still using dnsresolvers.com for lookups, this will stop working when we shut it down. Check your resolver lists for: 205.210.42.205 64.68.200.200 and remove them. We will be back with a more sensible resolver system in the future, but it will not be wide open the way these ones are. Help with route latency between TATA and Comcast

I am doing some testing between my Comcast Business connection and a Singapore server that I have just setup. I am seeing high latency to the server but it appears it is the Comcast to TATA link and not the link between the U.S. and Singapore. At least that is what I can gather from the reverse lookup in the traceroute. Can someone please enlighten me as to if I am correct or not? Topic: ICANN Vs. The World. The question at hand is.. Do countries/businesses have to affiliate or utilize any of those services provided by ICANN other than the assignment of an IP address? And can you get away with LAN/CAN/MAN stand-alone systems [instead of utilizing DNS-via-ICANN]?? Example: Is it legal to cut off those DNS systems and loop in backwards? (instead of bidirectional). ** I don't want my city/schools/other systems hooked into the World Wide Web. // someone let me know when you get a chance.

At .ca, we see a very low IPv6 adoption rate in .ca domains and slow progression rate. See last ~3 years trends at www.cira.ca/radarv6 Just as an indicator, we have 316 .ca domains with IPv6 glue records :-( *** Can the major Canadian ISP reply back with their plans/timelines/costs on IPv6 offerings for commercial and residential services? CIRA could compile this info somewhere for reference. *** BTW, while at it, we have a lot of work to do for DNSSEC validation in Canada; some stats filtered with more than 4000 clients as measured early 2014 by APNIC, Geoff Huston.
