Tips on dealing with illicit BGP announcements

I am working with a client that has recently purchased and transferred an IPv4 block. Sometime in between when the purchase and research was done and when the transfer was actually complete, an entity in Asia started illicitly announcing a larger block that includes the block in question. They even have gotten an RADB entry in place for it. Does anyone have some tips on how to deal with this? I have a feeling that dealing directly with the offending entity will not be very fruitful. thanks, -Randy

MAP-T in production

Has anyone implemented a MAP-T solution in production? I am looking for feedback on this as a deployment strategy for an IPv6 only core design. My concern is MAP-T CE stability and overhead on the network. The BR will have to do overloaded NAT anyway to access IPv4 only resources. The idea being that when IPv4 is no longer needed, this will be a quicker “clean-up” project than a dual-stack solution. I have reviewed Jordan Gotlieb’s presentation from Charter and would love to hear if this is still in use at Charter or if was ever fully implemented and the experiences) I’d love any real life examples and success/failure stories. *NANOG 80 will be held as a virtual meeting to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community — the in-person meeting in Seattle has been canceled. * In light of continued COVID-19 outbreaks throughout North America, the NANOG Board of Directors and Staff have decided to hold NANOG 80 <https://www.nanog.org/meetings/nanog-80/> exclusively as a virtual meeting. When surveying our community, the majority of respondents said they would not attend in-person, and would only feel comfortable doing so if there was a widely available COVID-19 vaccine. We feel the decision to hold the meeting online best ensures everyone’s safety. The NANOG Staff and Program Committee (PC) are working hard to provide the best virtual experience for NANOG 80, which will be held online from October 19-21, 2020. The program will offer three days of best-in-class talks, tutorials, keynotes, and panels, peer reviewed and developed by the PC. Elections for the NANOG Board of Directors will also take place during NANOG 80, with nominations opening August 17. The NANOG 80 registration fee will be $250. If this presents a hurdle to your attendance, we encourage you to apply for a NANOG 80 fellowship — details on how to apply will be announced soon. i backup using arq on macos catalina. on two macs, i need maybe 3-4tb max. google seems to be $100/mo for 20tb (big jump from $100/yr for 2tb). backblaze b2 looks more like $20/mo for 4tb ($0.005/gb/mo). anyone else done a similar analysis? randy
