I know this might be off topic but hopefully not too far off. I heard rumors that there are ISPs out there running IPv6 only networks where the clients can still get to the IPv4 world without the $30,000 plus dollar expense of buying a NAT64 appliance to service 4,000 plus customers. DWDM 10ms failover

I'm looking for some real world feedback on 10ms DWDM failover times from Omaha to Denver on 10Gbps transmission waves. I have seen several documents that report 10 ms failure detection time but I suspect the failover mechanism takes some time to react and propagate the failed state across multiple nodes in what is probably at least 600 mile cable routes with multiple nodes along the way. Cloud networking technologies landscape

Hi experts, I'd appreciate some help on my research in networking technologies that public cloud providers are using today and maybe in the future too. What I can see today is more or less a mix of classic SP/DC routing/switching technologies like BGP, MPLS, SR, EVPN, RIFT, Open Fabric, SFC, GBP. Minor stuff is happening in the application/networking orchestration space 'services to services' mesh, Application based routing/Load balancing/ADC. Maybe some clouds are trying to make sense out of disaggregation, whiteboxes and their stack, specially for the data plane components (IOVisor, FD.IO <http://fd.io/>, vRouter, OVS...etc). There are also some zero touch provisioning/automation/modeling work (Netconf, YANG, ZTP, iPXE...etc). Lastly, (gRPC, gRIBI, gNPI...etc) and provider specific one (RIB and FIB APIs). Am i missing anything obvious from this landscape ? It'd be great if someone can directly message me to have a short conversation. Best regards, Jason

Charter Porting

I first tried on VoiceOps, but didn't get any responses. Anyone have a useful contact in Charter's porting department? We've been trying to port a number for 10 days, but haven't been setup with their portal yet. The luck I'm having with the people at the e-mail address (Charter.STL.LSR(a)charter.com) specified in their porting instructions web site (https://www.spectrum.com/policies/local-number-portability-business-rules.h…) is about as good as building a bridge out of wet noodles. Can't start the port until we have access to their portal. Tools for streaming analysis

Hey folks, Just wondered what others are using for traffic analysis, particularly for identifying the amount of streaming (audio/video) traffic on your networks. I prefer open source, whether free or commercial, but am open to any good suggestions. Looked at ntopng and like it ok, but think it could be more flexible. Like the idea of pmacctd and friends, but not sure how I'd break down the streaming traffic with it. I'm ok with raw data...I can generate the graphs I want. I don't like anything with Solarwinds in the title! Btw, the data will be from a mix of Brocade, Cisco and Juniper routers, so sflow, netflow and IPFIX may all be used. Thanks, Ben
