Making interconnection agreements between networks more dynamic

Hello, We are a group of networking researchers from UFRGS, UCLouvain and KAUST. We are working towards an approach to make interconnection agreements between networks more dynamic. The current approach for establishing agreements is cumbersome, typically requiring lengthy discussions. To accommodate the expected growth of traffic demands, network operators need to over-provision. Even so, operators miss the ability to quickly respond when facing unforeseen traffic demands, because agreements have static characteristics and changes could take days or weeks to be implemented. Dynamic agreements offer many opportunities. For example, consider acquiring extra "bandwidth as a service" that is available on demand just when one needs it, similarly to how one might spin up extra VMs in the cloud to handle high loads. We are interested in collecting some anecdotal evidence that dynamic agreements could solve real-world problems. Has any member of the forum faced any scenario where the kind of dynamism described above could be helpful? IPv6 Connectivity at Specific Datacenter location.

I need to get in touch with a NOC/IP tech for Level3 previously TW/Telecom. Informative only. We have a /25 block of shared IPv4 at a local Datacenter in a Brookfield, WI located datacenter owned by Level3 and I would like to add V6 connectivity at our edge but I cannot seem to find a proper contact to inquire with. Were currently hosting a one off solution at Rackspace just for V6 and Apple requirements and Id like to discuss what its going to take to get that connectivity moved to our datacenter edge. Open for off list contact. Non time sensitive matter but would like to handle ASAP. Thanks

Arista hardware health and environmental nagios plugin

Hello All, Does anyone have a ready to use nagios/icinga plugin for hardware health and temperature monitoring of arista devices that they are willing to share? (7050, 7280 and 7500) With google searches I can't find any available. Arista TAC replied: "nagios does snmp, so that should fit you needs" There is https://github.com/ncsa/nagios-plugins which should be able to be augmented to do the extra checks. And with pyeapi it shouldn't be rocket science either. (for a developer, which I am not) If I were to request our devops department to build it it would probably put in back of a very long queue. So if there is anyone out there that is willing to share it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bas

For those who aren’t familiar with it, FloCon is an annual conference organized by CERT, historically focused on network flow and flow data analysis, and particularly its use to support security. (I should note we are *not* US-CERT—we’re the CERT Division of the Software Engineering Institute, operated by Carnegie Mellon University.) I said “historically focused on network flow” above because one of the changes for 2018 is that we’re expanding the scope of FloCon. This is in response to the trend in the types of submissions we’re receiving for the conference, and in the types of work we at CERT see our sponsors (and the rest of the world) interested in. The new scope for FloCon is data analysis in support of security operations—so, all types of data now, not just flow data or network data. We still anticipate that network data analysis will be a significant part of FloCon because of its central place in security operations, but we’re hopeful that the expanded scope will allow participants to share new and exciting ways of fusing all sorts of data. (Network flow? Pcap? Passive DNS? Building access data? Incident report contents? Biometric data? Malware hashes? Bring it, whatever it is.) We tend to get a good mix of security practitioners, tool builders, and researchers each year. I would love to see more people from the ops world join us, since I think the best advances in the state of the practice will come from bringing the brains of all of these groups together.
