Hi, I have some questions related to the security service that security SP offers. Is it common for SP to include risk related calculation into the security service (in contract/SLA) they offer? The question or problem might arise when some incident happened even the customer got secure hosting service from security SP. The customer might complain that SP doesn't protect them well and ask for some penalty in this case. So how does SP protect themselves in this case? Automatic IPv6 due to broadcast

Hello everyone Just got a awfully crazy issue. I heard from our support team about failure of whois during domain registration. Initially I thought of port 43 TCP block or something but found it was all ok. Later when ran whois manually on server via terminal it failed. Found problem that server was connecting to whois server - whois.verisign-grs.com. I was stunned! Server got IPv6 and not just that one - almost all. This was scary - partial IPv6 setup and it was breaking things. In routing tables, routes were all going to a router which I recently setup for testing. That router and other servers are under same switch but by no means I ever configured that router as default gateway for IPv6. I found option of "broadcast" was enabled on router for local fe80... address and I guess router broadcasted IPv6 and somehow (??) all servers found that they have a IPv6 router on LAN and started using it - automated DHCP IPv6? I wonder if anyone else also had similar issues? Also, if my guesses are correct then how can we disable Red Hat distro oriented servers from taking such automated configuration - simple DHCP in IPv6 disable? Securing OOB

Hello, It seems that the current practice is to use a DSL line, as opposed to a modem, for accessing an OOB a console server at a remote colo. From a security standpoint, what do people generally do - trust the console server, repurpose an old linksys box from my house or put in a full firewall? Eric :)

Is anyone else seeing this? DC - DFW back to DC? AFAIK, Verizon-GNI is a customer of L3, so no weird peering issues should be afoot. This adds about 40ms to the R/T time. The path leaving Verizon-GNI (FIOS) goes (seemingly) DC-DC and has lower times (<5ms) unidirectionally. SunGard contact in Boston datacenter?

Anybody from SunGard lurking? We're observing major packet loss on an AT&T link to SunGard router 74.205.255.246 in Boston. We have a SaaS vendor behind that router, and the application is all but unusable. The SaaS vendor's support staff aren't able to address the issue with SunGard (or don't know how).
