I want to like IPv6. I do. But I'm seriously considering turning off IPv6 support from our servers. First off, I'm using djbdns internally and it doesn't support AAAA records. So we really aren't using it internally. But today I noticed that we have a lot of traffic to our DNS cache, and started to investigate. Turns out that every DNS request would start with one for the AAAA record. Ah, no luck. Maybe you forgot the search domain? Let's retry that DNS request with that tacked on. Failed again? Meanwhile, lets simultaneously try for the AA record then. Repeat. I'm _this_ close to turning IPv6 off entirely. Anyone want to talk me off this ledge? -- http://josephholsten.com

Belpak / Beltelecom contact to address a BGP hijacking issue?

Hi all, Does anyone have a technical or peering contact at Belpak / Beltelecom (AS 66697) to address an apparent netblock hijacking issue? AS6697 is advertising the 2.2.2.0/24 address space which is under AS3215 management. We've tried to announce the same prefix but it's difficult to get the traffic back! No answer from people listed in the whois, no peeringDB information. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, -- sarah

Routing Policy Survey

Hi all, To follow up on my presentation at NANOG56 last week: http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~phillipa/papers/PGill_NANOG56_Web.pdf where I reported on the results of preliminary survey we ran to understand the routing policies you use in your networks, we created a new survey to better understand some of the observations made in the first one: http://bit.ly/routingsurvey As I said on Monday, research on interdomain routing could really benefit from a better understanding of the routing policies and we need your help! If you operate a network, we want to hear from you. Answer as many, or as few, questions as you like. The raw survey results will be kept anonymous and summary results communicated to the community.
