It is really nice that folks where able to put AAAA records on their websites for only 24 hours, but they forgot to put in the glue on their nameservers. As such, for the folks testing IPv6-only, a lot of sites will fail unless they use a recursor that does the IPv4 for them. The root is there, .com does it mostly too (well, a+b have IPv6), but most sites don't. Thus maybe that can be done next year on the next IPv6 day? :) At least one step closer, now lets hope that sites also keep that IPv6 address there. Large jump in global table prefix count?

Anyone else notice a rather large jump in the global table size? We just gained around 20K prefixes in just the last few hours. Firehost as a cloud provider

Anyone have experience with Firehost? I have a personal site that I am considering hosting with them and due to the content, am worried about security but don't want to spend the cycles building NIDs and HIDs for myself. I due need PCI compliance as well. If things take off, I'll look at a dedicated server solution but cloud for things while they are in beta seems to fit. Thanks, Bobbyjim

ip 6 questions

Hi Our company will prepare ipv6. I have the following questions We will apply ipv6 from ARIN and try to use it in hosting business 1/ Can we use it in our current AS which is using ipv4? If not. Do we have to apply new AS? 2/ Can arin not allow us to apply ipv4 for the future after we apply ipv6? 3/ Any advices to do ipv6 in hosting business Thank you for your help

IPv6 day non-participants

I noticed that one of our vendors wasn't actually participating when they very publicly put on their home page that they would. So I queried the IPv6 day participation list to see who didn't have AAAA's for their listed website. It turned out to be around 9.5% Before you read the list, here's me shedding responsibility with a list of caveats: - The crappy perl script I am using might be broken. Question about migrating to IPv6 with multiple upstreams.

I have an interesting situation at a business that I am working on. We currently have the office set up with redundant connections for their mission critical servers and such, and also have a (cheap) cable modem for general browsing on client machines. The interesting part is that the client machines need to access some customer networks via the main redundant network, so we have a firewall set up to route those connections via the redundant connections, and everything else via the cheaper, faster cable modem. NAT is used on both outbound connections. With IPv6, we are having some trouble coming up with a way to do this. Since there is no NAT, does anyone have any ideas as to how this could be accomplished? In a nutshell: how do you have 2 upstream connections, and choose between them based on outbound destination? thanks, -Randy
