Hi all, the replication point is a good one, I did not think about that. However, I still believe that on the road to v6 adoption, databases are far from being our most pressing roadblock. Sprint BGP/routing engineer needed

If you have visibility and can fix things - I would greatly appreciate an off-list contact. We have a reachability issue through Level3, but it's on the Sprint side of a specific peer and the Level3 support person can't fit the pieces together mentally. DHS and NSA getting married?

An agreement signed this month with the Department of Homeland Security and an earlier initiative to protect companies in the defense industrial base make it likely that the military will be a key part of any response to a cyber attack. While the Department of Homeland Security officially remains the lead government agency on cyber defense, the new agreement "sets up an opportunity for DHS to take advantage of the expertise" in the Pentagon, and particularly the secretive electronic spying agency, the National Security Agency, said Butler, who is a deputy assistant defense secretary. The two agencies - Defense and Homeland Security - "will help each other in more tangible ways then they have in the past," Butler told a group of defense reporters. Among other things, a senior DHS cyber official and other DHS employees will move to the NSA to be closer to the heart of the military's cyber defense capability. ipv6 vs. LAMP

Hello... I've been following the recent IPv6 threads with interest. I decided to test the M in LAMP for IPv6 support (Although it was really a FreeBSD server not Linux). It seems than only newer versions (5.5 rc) of MySQL support IPv6 network connections. Worse is that although it will accept a network connection via IPv6, the grant tables do not work. To successfully get data out of the database, the grants would have to be open to the world. After a few google searches, it seems that PostgreSQL is in a similar situation. Network operations content: Will "We're running MySQL and Postgress servers that do not support IPv6" be a valid reason for rejecting IPv6 addresses from ISPs or hosting providers? Have any hosting providers network people talked the the DBA people to tell them that they might have a problem soon? With RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu all shipping databases that will not work correctly with IPv6, I suspect some people are in for a rude awakening next year. Furthermore, why would Oracle want to 'fix' MySQL? It seems to me that for medium to large content providers IPv6 would be great. Have racks and racks of LAMP servers on IPv6, only a few hosts and load balancers would need to be dual stack. But if the database servers must be IPv4 only, then there is zero benefit to add IPv6 anywhere else. note: by LAMP I really mean Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris , Apache/nginx/etc, MySQL/PostgressSQL/etc, and php/perl/python/ruby. VPN issue, and possible cBeyond Engineer request

Howdy, So I'm fighting a VPN issue, trying to establish a Client to Firewall VPN for remote access with 3 of my customers. Customer is using a Sonicwall firewall (TZ210 or NSA240 with similar issues). We have ruled out the firewall being the issue by terminating the internet connection to a switch, static IPing a laptop outside the firewall and successfully establishing a tunnel. DHCP information is properly processed by the firewall every time, but under 25% of the time it is not received by the client. Any thoughts as to what might be intermittently eating this information? Alternatively anyone useful from cBeyond who might be able to assist me? This works perfectly fine for 50+ customers however we have 3 customers on cBeyond service that it does not work with. Again, we can bypass the cBeyond circuit and VPN client connections work as expected. Any other ideas? Blake Pfankuch

Issues with Wild Blue Internet Services

All, We are receiving reports that customers using Wild Blue ISP are having trouble reaching our network. We have asked customers to provide us with packet captures and are still waiting on them. Our troubleshooting has not revealed any reason why customers can not access us from that ISP. The same customers report that from other networks they can reach us. I was wondering if any of you have had similar experiences with this ISP or could shed some light on what might be happening. Thanks for your valuable time, Mike
