AC/AC power conversion for datacenters

Hello, This is marginally related to the power discussions earlier, but does anyone know of a product that steps up 120V AC to 220V AC and is reasonably datacenter-friendly? We're looking at an environment where there's no 220V available - but we only need ~7 amps so conversion could be possible to my high-school-physics mind. I've found some products that seem to be appropriate, but they're geared towards a more industrial purpose. Is there a rackmount 120->220V converter that people out there have used and would recommend? Pesky spammers are using my mailbox

Hi, seems some spammers are using one of my personal domains as the from field in their emails, the local-part being random so I cant easily block it. Has anyone any advice on tracking them down and making them stop? All I get are the bounces, some include the original headers but that usually gives an open relay as the origin. I think I know the answer (you cant do anything) but I wanted to ask as its very annoying and I'm not happy! PS Anyone around at the Sheraton today.. I cant spot anyone looking nanogish! Steve

I've gotten a fair amount of response to my plug for the pool.ntp.org project, however, it appears that I wasn't very clear about what the project is. First off, I'm not in charge of the pool.ntp.org project, so I can't add any servers to the pool. The admin email address you should contact if you can provide a server is: clockmaster(a)fortytwo.ch Secondly, the pool.ntp.org servers aren't all stratum-1, some are even stratum-3 or so. The goal here isn't to provide everyone with the absolute best time standard, but to provide everyone with a good enough time standard that you can just plop pool.ntp.org in without thinking too much about it. Actually, this project started out as a way to try and keep people from abusing stratum-1 time sources by plopping in a fixed list as a default. For example, the Debian Linux distribution now comes with three pool.ntp.org servers picked at random from the round-robin DNS as a default. Since you don't know where in the world or on what networks these Linux installations will be placed, picking three random NTP sites is far better than picking a fixed list or picking nothing at all. People who care about sub 10ms accuracy will go find better time sources, but most people just want sub 1min accuracy. Again, if you can either provide a public ntp server, or you can influence people to use the pool.ntp.org servers instead of abusing other servers, please check out: http://fortytwo.ch/time/ Of course, your users should be using ISP or company specific NTP servers if they can, if they can't, using pool.ntp.org is better. -wayne

While we're on the subject of RIPE AS## & whois, could somebody tell me what are 1880-1883, which http://www.cidr-report.org/autnums.html lists as: AS1880 AS1880 Stupi, house man's policy AS1881 AS1881 Stupi, toaster network AS1882 AS1882 Stupi, house woman's policy AS1883 AS1883 Stupi, backboone test network These ASNs regularly announce ip blocks not otherwise present in whois and I wanted to know this is all about? -- William Leibzon Elan Communications Inc. william(a)elan.net

Unified table of AS names?

I'm looking for a unified table of AS names or a tool that could be used to generate such a table. At this time, it is still on fire. We have implemented our emergency response plans. Our backup generators are working as designed and a fuel truck has been dispatched. We are also bringing in 2 truck mounted generators as additional backup due to teh length of time we anticipate running on generator. LIMITED staff is working in the building at this time as a precaution. HOWEVER, our full management and administrative staff has been dispached to the facility.
