SIP strangeness on T-W cable ?

Today I am unable to connect to my usual SIP servers from my T-W cable account. I've tried two Sipura terminal adapters and the softphone in Jitsi, and I can't connect to either callcentric.com or voipdiscount.com, and the network connection is otherwise looking normal. The SIP providers are up, if I call my callcentric number from the other line it goes to voicemail as you'd expect. Anyone else seeing SIP wierdness on T-W today? R's, John

APC vs UPC?

NANOGians: APC wins! My real question is surrounding the connection on the SFPs themselves. In general terms are the LC connectors on SFPs considered UPC or APC? If the answer is UPC and if I am inheriting and/or building a network of single mode fiber with APC SC connectors, then is the best practice to use LC UPC to SC APC fiber jumpers? If so, can anyone point me to a source for said jumpers that is (1) quick and (2) good? Any thoughts on the same idea of mismatched fiber jumpers connector types to use on OLMs and OLSs? OTDRs? The concern here is to use the best possible fiber connector types (e.g. APC or UPC) when connecting lasers to my OSP fiber which uses APC with consideration to the optimal connector type for the laser transceiver. My thoughts are to use fiber jumpers with UPC connectors on the laser side with APC on and throughout the OSP, but if it should be purely APC everywhere, then that is what I need to know. Thanks! common checks performed when passing on an IPv4 PA allocation from one end-customer to another

Hi, when one end-customer has been using for example /24 IPv4 allocation for a while and returns this(for example changes an ISP) to LIR, then are there some good practices before handing out this same /24 to a new customer? I guess LIR should: 1) remove all the DNS PTR records, classless of classful delegations 2) check if some of the IP addresses are in DNSBL(maybe the previous customer was a spammer). Softlayer / Blocking Cuba IP's ?

Hello All, This is a shout out to Softlayer Network Admin / Policy folks... We just went thru a painful process to find out that Softlayer has recently decided to block Cuba IP Address Space....(on their cloud services). I am not a politician, nor any kind of a policy expert, However I have a questions for the SoftLayer folks... On What basis, legal requirement, logic, have they taken on the responsibility to implement such a Block ? Considering the fact that such a block was just put in place about a week ago ? Last time I checked, blocking any part of the world is not part of any legal requirements on any Global Service Provider ? other than a 'company policy' ?
