The report is split into sections: 0) General Status List the route table history for the last week, list any possibly bogus routes seen and give some status on ASes. 1) Gains by aggregating at the origin AS level This lists the "Top 30" players who if they decided to aggregate their announced classful prefixes at the origin AS level could make a significant difference in the reduction of the current size of the Internet routing table. This calculation does not take into account the inclusion of holes when forming an aggregate so it is possible even larger reduction should be possible. 2) Weekly Delta A summary of the last weeks changes in terms of withdrawn and added routes. Please note that this is only a snapshot but does give some indication of ASes participating in CIDR. Clearly, it is generally a good thing to see a large amont of withdrawls. 3) Interesting aggregates Interesting here means not an aggregate made as a set of classful routes. WIBNI everyone who announced subnets of an allocated-in-pre-CIDR-times prefix would have to justify, under the usual slow-start rules, the use of any and all of those chunks that exceed a typical initial allocation from a favourite registry (APNIC, ARIN, RIPE)? WIBNI these member-funded registries were instructed by their members that, in order to postpone the day when the vast majority of paying members have to upgrade their routers because of an increase in the number of globally-heard prefixes and/or change swathes of the parts of the Internet they offer service to from classical IPv4 because of address consumption, the registries should monitor the address utilization of pre-CIDR allocations AS IF THEY HAD BEEN ALLOCATED UNDER TODAY'S RULES, and notify the entire membership when pre-CIDR allocations are clearly non-conforming in a way that inflates (even just a little) the size of the global routing tables or the overall visible address consumption. Recap: Software to track IP Address

All, Thanks to everyone who replied. Several people asked that I post some of the suggestions that I received to NANOG, so here goes. :) Lucent QIP <http://qip.lucent.com> Granite Systems <http://www.granite.com> Nets <http://www.open.com.au/nets> Checkpoint MetaIP <http://www.checkpoint.com/products/metaip/> Tree <ftp://ftp.tic.com/pub/tree/tree-0.0.1.tar.gz> LanDB <http://avenir.dhs.org/landb/> Several people also replied that they are building their own database using either plain-text records or SQL databases (mySQL, PostgreSQL, mSQL, etc). I have personally looked at Tree and got a demo copy of Lucent QIP (No Windows 2000 server setup yet to test :) ). While testing tree, I found documentation and some of the more advanced "features" (e.g. email alerts, permission levels) were lacking. On the flip side, QIP and MetaIP have the ability to manage your DNS and DHCP services. While that is nice, I really don't need the functionality and it does drive the price higher. :( I would suggest trying out the above software. Need help with Cisco VLAN bridging....

Has anyone had experience bridging multiple VLANs accross a clear-channel DS3? I have 2 3640's populated with 1 FE and 1 HSSI. They are connected by a DS3. I've tried a couple of different configs, including turning one router into a frame swich and building a PVC for each VLAN, but the bridging didn't seem to work. I've tried running SDE directly between the HSSI ports...and that didn't seem to work. I'm up a against a deadline here, and would greatly appreciate any help you can offer. Billing systems

I am looking for information regarding ISP billing systems and feel this list is a great place to start my research. I want to evaluate next generation billing systems that have the following capabilities at a minimum IP support Usage based billing Robust Security Architecture Real time reporting Creation and management of user accounts Rapid provisioning of service offerings Activity tracking Rating Advanced billing capabilities International capabilities (Spanish a must) I would like to know what vendors play in this space and pro's and con's of any vendors you out there in the industry may have evaluated. Sample RFP's would be extremely helpful but I know that is a stretch. At a minimum, vendor names would be great. Thanks in advance!!!

Source Route Bridging / Source Route Transparent / ST - TB

Anyone have some good resources on Source Route Bridging and all its variations. I would prefer vendor independent info but would be happy with almost anything. I am looking for behavioral information mostly. The way that the protocol behaves in different situations.

Funny you should mention that... If I was a customer of ISPph, they would accept any route I send them in that block, so I guess $$$ might be another solution. But why would I be a customer of ISPph, if they don't provide access to the *entire* Internet? IMO, that makes them not be a real ISP, just a Partial-Network-SP. So far, we get traceroutes from users of ISPph who can't get to a site on the /19 block, and the answer back to them is "yours is the only ISP that cannot get to our network" and we suggest they get one of the free dial accounts just to prove to them that our site is up. Of course, the chances of enough users of ISPph complaining that it would make a difference is very slim.
