If folk (and that includes the gubbermints) met the power companies half way, renewables would make a lot more sense, more quickly. But as I said before, when we flick the switch, it must turn on. End of. And then we revert to demanding power companies to embrace the additional revenue, or fulfill their mandate to deliver a basic, life-sustaining utility, no matter what. Unfortunately, there really hasn't been sufficient education to regular folk about what it takes to generate electricity reliably, no matter the season. And yet, there is far more education out there about the benefits of conserving it, and preserving the earth. So the view is not balanced, and power companies as well as oil producers will knee-jerk to either justify or distance themselves, rather than encourage a fair, practical engagement. Alexa adds Severe Weather Alerts (old news Feb 2020)

Ok, I know -- old news. But I missed it during the whole pandamic thing last year. Since I previously criticized Amazon about this, and FCC is requesting comments about Internet Emergency Alerts this month, a correction. I found out Amazon Alexa added Severe Weather Alerts last Febuary 2020. Kudos to Amazon for doing this, despite the Amazon folks saying "no one else asks about alerts," everytime I asked about it. Apple Siri and Google Home, how are you doing alerts???? Now I have to change the Alexa example in my submission to the FCC :-) Alexa's Monthly Roundup: February: "Alexa can now proactively notify you when there’s severe weather. Simply say “Alexa, tell me when there’s a severe weather alert” and Alexa will notify you when there is a local severe weather warning." Hi there. TC, a large IRR database focused on Brazilian networks, just changed its IP addresses. In most IRRd implementations it's necessary to sighup the daemon to move to the new IP addresses, so we kindly ask those running public and private IRR instances to sighup in order to move to the new IP addresses. The new addresses of bgp.net.br are: bgp.net.br has address 177.128.210.126 bgp.net.br has IPv6 address 2804:890:0:102::102 bgp.net.br mail is handled by 10 bgp.net.br. The old machine will be up and serving mirroring requests until we see most, if not all, of requests being served by the new machine. Thanks, TC

ERCOT ISO Texas has announced the end of today's emergency energy conservation appeal due to a shortage of generation capacity and higher than forecasted demand caused by a cold front. No this is not an old message. Yep, Texas is having power shortages again in mild April weather.
