Hi there, I'm interested in what you good folks do in terms of network visibility. My interests are around Service Provider space - visibility for IPoE, PPPoE, TCP(User Experience). I use a product called "VoIPmonitor" for all things VoIP - and it is one of my favourite tools. It is a web gui for sip/rtp/etc. Is there a similar tool in the Ethernet(L2)/IP(L3) space? Are operators using tcpdump/wireshark for this - or is there a voipmonitor-esque tool out there? Cheers, Nathaniel

DOJ files suit to enforce FCC penalty for robocalls

The multi-million dollar fines announced with great fanfaire by the Federal Communication Commission are almost never collected. The FCC doesn't have enforcement authority to collect fines. The FCC usually withholds license renewals until penalties are paid. If the violator doesn't have any FCC licenses (or doesn't care), the FCC is powerless. The FCC refers uncollected penalties to the Department of Justice. In the past, DOJ didn't prioritize uncollected penalties and most fines were never enforced. Hi all, Have there been any gap closures on RFC7439? I am particularly interested in 4PE, 4VPE, and other MPLS enabled services like L3VPN, NG-MVPN, E-Line, E-LAN, and EVPN. Does Juniper have an "ipv4-tunneling" mpls keyword? Thanks, Jason

Fort - Now Available as a FreeBSD Port

For those who run FreeBSD, the Fort RPKI validator is now available in the ports tree: https://www.freshports.org/net/fort/ Many thanks to Toni Kalombo for submitting and maintaining the port, and to Philip Paeps to committing it. Safe Geo-location Defaults

Has anyone published "safe" geo-location defaults? By safe I mean default lat/lon coordinates for a country, state/province, city, postal code which do not resolve near a residence. It seems like too many people use "Find My <device>" or other geo-location services, and then go to the exact location shown on the mapping service for the default lat/lon which is often a default location. Knock on the person which happens to live near the default centroid, and acuse them of stealing their <device> because "Find My <device>" showed that location.

Hi Omar, This is likely a hoax. Probably a “joe job” - making it appear as someone innocent is responsible. Its good to share this info to raise network operators awareness since even if it is fake its concerning how many received it. I’ll leave it to the pros here to tell us if we shouldn’t worry.
