Hi everyone, In its recent meeting, the SC selected four volunteers from the community to join Sue Joiner of Merit on the Mail List Committee. The new team is as follows: Sue Joiner (appointed by Merit) Simon Lyall (term finishes in October 2009) Kris Foster (term finishes in October 2009) David Barak (term finishes in October 2008) Tim Yocum (term finishes in October 2008) The SC would like to thank the four successful volunteers for their willingness to contribute their time and energy to assist with supporting the NANOG mail list. The SC also would like to thank Michael K Smith, John Osman and Alex Pilosov for also stepping forward and offering to help. If the address-space owner won't police it's own property, there is no reason for the rest of the world to spend the time/effort to _selectively_ police it for them. Amazon _might_ 'get a clue' if enough providers walled off the EC2 space, and they found difficulty selling cycles to people who couldn't access the machines to set up their compute applications.

Hi, Another case of getting much better help via NANOG than through a NOC. Turns out there was an issue, and it subsequently was fixed in a relatively small timeframe. Atleast a /20 of RR was not visible inside of L3, I'm not sure if it was more. Thanks again to those people from L3 that DID help me who are on this list. Tuc/TBOH

http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-iana-rfc3330bis-01.txt Other than a formatting error in the header ("IPv4 Multicast Guidelines") instead of ("Special Use IPv4 Addresses"), the only significant change appears to be removing the "Reserved" status of the old Classfull boundary networks. The former boundary networks are now subject to allocation like any other unicast IPv4 address space. Host, Router vendors and Network Operators should have already been testing their equipment for proper handling (i.e. not doing anything different) of these network addresses. So this ID should just be a minor IANA administrative cleanup.
