NEED Some HELP

Hi Nanog Members, I've been troubleshooting this problem for a few days already but i'm still unable to fix it. I think it's now time to ask some help from Nanog members. I cannot ping the IP on my Cisco 6509 from the internet. Here are the setup: *Internet*---(copper)-->*GSR*----(fiber)--->* Cisco 6509* <<<<<This setup is NOT OK - I cannot ping *Internet*---(copper)-->*GSR*----(copper)---> *Cisco 6509* <<<<< This setup is OK - I can ping(this is directly connected to the PRP2) NOTES: - I am using PRP2 on my GSR and the fiber is connected to the 4xGE module - I have a default route from Cisco 6509 to GSR - From the 6509 I can only ping the IP addresses on the GSR, addresses outside the GSR are not reachable - From the internet, I can only ping up to the GSR - I can ping from GSR to 6509 and vise versa - The IP on the 6509 is configured on the interface that is directly connected to the GSR. Dutch ISPs to collaborate and take responsibility for botted clients

The story is covered by PC mag: ------- ... major Dutch ISPs have agreed to share information and establish a common set of rules for responding to users infected with malware, especially those in botnets. The agreement, called a "treaty" by locals, involves 14 ISPs covering 98% of the market. A major reason ISPs are hesitant to take deliberate measures against such systems is that they are afraid that disconnecting users and making them spend time and money cleaning up their systems will only drive them into the hands of competitors. And the support process itself is expensive, probably wiping out the profit from that user. But with such high coverage of the market users may not have permissive alternatives. This will be an interesting phenomenon to watch. ....or when I initiate offsite backups. I've seen ISPs that react to just traffic bursts. It's not the way to go without more intelligent decision making on the content (i.e. SMTP, all SYNs, etc). But any kind of blocking because the ISP sees 'anomalous' traffic seems .. premature at best. SANS newsbites has this bit: On Thursday, October 8, Comcast began testing a service that alerts its broadband subscribers with pop-ups if their computers appear to be infected with malware. Among the indicative behaviors that trigger alerts are spikes in overnight traffic, suggesting the machine has been compromised and is being used to send spam. When my son comes home from college, there's a huge spike in overnight traffic from my house. With all the people advocating immediate blocking of pwned systems in this thread, I'm wondering what their criteria is for deciding that the system is compromised & should be blocked. Lee

Anyone seeing BGP weirdness?

I know this post sounds like a noobish thing to ask, but I've got sites in three different cities - Tucson, Arizona; Devnver, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah, and all three of them can't reach certain IPs of our clients whom we have IPsec tunnels to. In one case I can traceroute to 4.2.2.2 fine, but the traceroute to the public IP of one of my clients dies at the second hop, right after my ASA. Is anyone else seeing general routing weirdness on the Internets, or at least can someone point me at a good "BGP dashboard" site that monitors the state of routing tables at various places?
