The report is split into sections: 0) General Status List the route table history for the last week, list any possibly bogus routes seen and give some status on ASes. 1) Gains by aggregating at the origin AS level This lists the "Top 30" players who if they decided to aggregate their announced classful prefixes at the origin AS level could make a significant difference in the reduction of the current size of the Internet routing table. This calculation does not take into account the inclusion of holes when forming an aggregate so it is possible even larger reduction should be possible. 2) Weekly Delta A summary of the last weeks changes in terms of withdrawn and added routes. Please note that this is only a snapshot but does give some indication of ASes participating in CIDR. Clearly, it is generally a good thing to see a large amont of withdrawls. 3) Interesting aggregates Interesting here means not an aggregate made as a set of classful routes. An important question to ask people reporting this type of problem is are they getitng a normal busy (all modems busy) or a fast busy (telco out of circuits). Two very different problems. RFC1918 addresses to permit in for VPN?

Our DSUA filter had to have a small hole punched in since a customer had a VPN (I do not know yet as to what kind) which was receiving packets sourced at 172.17.x.x. Is this a misconfiguration on the sender's end, or a "feature." FYI, Pagenet is having major issues with their inbound SMTP paging relays today. This doesn't seem to be affecting TAP paging at this point, only direct SMTP to ____(a)pagenetmessage.net. San Jose power outage

Murphy's back. I returned to the San Jose area after the chrismas holidays. I flew into the San Jose airport. Pacific Gas & Electric, the electric utility serving San Jose and the airport, lost a high-voltage power line about 6:40pm. The emergency generator serving one of the terminals as the airport failed to start. Power was restored about two hours later. As far as I know, none of the ISPs or colocation providers in San Jose were affected. There are also two major winter storms disrupting utilities through the Midwest. At least 200,000 subscribers were without power in various midwestern states.
