Chris, I would recommend Webmin if you're looking for a straight-forward *NIX-based control panel -- very easy to use, and you can limit access to other Webmin features through account permissions. They're at http://webmin.com. I believe Tzolkin makes a nice one as well, but it's a commercial product/service. They're the same folks who do dynamic DNS and a really cool DNS-based autofailover product. They're at http://www.tzo.com. Greetings, Several weeks ago I stumbled across a web-based BIND control panel freeware I was looking to use on a project...it had a quasi-arabic name like "Dubai" or something similar but it seemed quite powerful...If anyone has seen this critter, could you please refresh my memory on what it is called? Yesterday morning, I noticed mail-abuse.org appeared to be down (unreachable). I checked again, and it's still unreachable. In fact, I can't even reach its name server. I did some more looking last night, and it seems it's not down, it's just unreachable from my network. Even stranger, it's only unreachable from Atlantic.Net's primary ARIN block of 209.208.0.0/17. Traceroutes die at so-1-1-0.mpr1.sql1.us.mfnx.net (209.249.203.58). Router interfaces (using provider IPs) and a smaller IP block from an ISP we acquired are able to reach mail-abuse.org, as are other networks I have access to. We don't appear to be listed in the MAPS RBL+. I've tried clearing BGP sessions, forcing packets out through alternate paths, with no affect. Is this some weird routing glitch somewhere between me and MAPS or has someone at MAPS or vix.com decided they don't like me? Also, though it seems to be on a totally different network, I've just noticed I have the same problem reaching f.root-servers.net only from 209.208.0.0/17. Here traceroutes die at 189.ATM11-0-0.BR1.PAO1.ALTER.NET (146.188.148.105). I certainly hope this isn't yet another case of someone confusing Atlantic.Net/Internet Connect Company, Inc. with ATLANTIC INTERNET (NETBLK-Q0417-65-124-104-0) 621 NW 53RD ST. Reclaiming hijacked handle

I noticed my handle was hijacked by a company I used to work for. Naturally, I want it back since I went to use it and it's incorrect. My old handle, MH309, is now MH569. Question 1: Did ARIN start expiring unused handles or did something in the process of the hijack cause my handle to increment up to 569, which I'm assuming was the next open number in the in the scheme for 'MH'. Question 2: If an account is passworded, how were they able to take it? Does ARIN not ask for a copy of a license or other photo ID when making voice/fax based changes to POC's? [ Then again, they could've used my photo from the HR files ala I9 documentation ] Thanks, -M

alldas - web defacement records

all concerned... Alldas.org - the server that accumulated most web defacements - send me an email in which they explained that they in a desperate need of a new hosting-location. Without this they cannot continue providing the net community and the network operators with this service which they've done for about 4 years now. At this time the service stopped. Alldas.org is NON-commercial. They need: Free hosting with stand-alone computer running Linux/*NIX with a hard drive cap of 20-40 GB, being able to handle ~300.000 uniq. visits/month.
