We purchased one 7609 for deployment of transit BGP...it doesn't come close to the performance of a GSR w/PRP2's. Extremely high CPU useage on the 7609 with each BGP session... But on the 6509's...it does fine... Larry May Network Services n|Frame 888-223-8633

Cisco 12000 series routers and IOS XR.

Is anyone on the list running the Cisco 12000 Series routers with XR? We have a couple of these in our network and are having a few issues with them. Specifically the line cards will reboot for some unknown reason (12000-SIP-501). We recently replaced one of the cards and the new hardware (<6mo old) is doing the same thing. Anyone have issues with these routers? -- Jim Wininger

Visio diag automations

Hi All: I have to create Visio diagrams for sales engagements for a webhosting provider. I use the same template based on our standard architecture but vary the number/model/detail of the servers. I am sick of the cut-n-paste approach and am wondering who has automated some of these processes. What I would like to do is provide a standard data file (excel, csv, ect..) and have that populate the detailed areas of the diagram. My boss won't pay for any software but I can use open source under XP or cygwin. Thanks, Robert

Nexus 7K usage w/VDC, vPC - anybody?

I'd be interested to know if anybody has been using the Cisco N7K platform, especially in vertical consolidation mode (aggr and core as VDCs, and dual Nexus VPC-ed together)? Any comments on this system, even outsde this narrow scope of my previous question? Anybody using these as server access systems, in DCs? Quick question about inbound route-selection

Howdy, Keep in mind I am basing this 'idea' off of fixed orbit's data which can sometimes be a bit out of date, etc. (in theory, and based upon number of peers, data): If you have a network with these upstream connections to the Internet you should see inbound traffic utilization in this order: AS Name --------- 3356 Level3 7018 ATT 3549 Global Crossing 4323 Time Warner Telecom 10796 TimeWarnerCable/RR I am trying to determine why I am seeing it in this order: 3356 Level3 4323 Time Warner Telecom 3549 Global Crossing 10796 TimeWarnerCable/RR 7018 ATT I suppose there is a certain level of convergence where these providers inter-connect, and also the source network of the traffic plays a big part of it, i.e. if most of the sources are directly connected to Level3, etc. I am mainly wondering why 7018 sends us such a little amount compared to even 10796. Also, with the providers already connected, if we added a new one, which one would (in your opinion) benefit us the most on spreading the inbound traffic out better? I realize that we can use communities, and prepends to control the inbound flow, I am just speaking from a purely natural standpoint. thanks, -Drew
